Cape Bonavista Photos
Tourists who drive between Cape Bonavista and the Dungeon will be sure to see many interesting sights. Since this area is part of the community pasture, many sheep, horses and cows can be seen grazing near the sides of the road and often you will have to stop to allow the cattle to stroll lazily across the road. In the above photo, a number of sheep are resting on and in the shade of an abandoned boat. The photo below shows some of the spectacular scenery that can be seen along this route.
The two photos below are both of "The Dungeon" but taken from different angles. The first shows "The Dungeon" taken from the air. Not many tourists have seen this site from this viewpoint ! The second picture was taken looking down into "The Dungeon" and you can see the two cave-like openings leading out into the ocean. On a stormy day it is quite an experience to stand near the edge of this giant natural excavation and watch the sea thunder through the two openings. I'm sure many former residents have memories of climbing down into "the Dungeon" to obtain the cubes of "fools gold" that could be chiselled out of the rocky sides.
