KAPPA GAMMA CHAPTER HISTORY

The history of Zeta on the campus of Fisk Univeristy is very rich. When Zeta first came to the state of Tennessee, it came in the form of Lambada Chapter. This chapter included both undergraduates and graduates. When it was decided by the national body to separate undergraduate chapters and graduate chapters, the graduate chapter became Pi Zeta and the undergraduate chapter was Upsilon, the original Fisk Chapter. Upsilon Chapter was chartered in 1927; however, due to the depression era, and the war...it dissovled.

In 1966 Soror Veonnie McKinnie, a member of Pi Zeta and Fisk Faculty Staff Member, saw the need for Zeta to be a part of the Fisk Community again. So through her efforts and the seven charter members, Kappa Gamma Chapter was established. Since that time, the chapter has produced doctors, lawyers, and the present Great Lakes Regional Director, Soror Norma Dartis.

Though the history of Upsilon was brief...they have not been forgotten.
