The Green Sligh Deck, Standard (Type II) ---------------------------------------- There are two ways to play green decks these days: fast, and faster. This is a faster deck, making use of the freeness of Skyshroud Cutter and, to a lesser extent, Vine Dryad, and laying the smack down. 4 Pouncing Jaguar 4 Rancor 4 Albino Troll 3 Might of Oaks 2 Elvish Lyirst 4 Giant Growth 4 Wild Dogs 4 Llanowar Elf 3 Gaea's Cradle 2 Uktabi Orangutan 16 Forest 4 Skyshroud Cutter (Super Secret Tech!) 4 Skyshroud Ridgeback 2 Vine Dryad Now, to explain some of the choices. Why only 2 Vine Dryads? Simply, I hate 1 power creatures. Although she's Shock-proof, she isn't going to be a major threat. Granted, she's better to cast against some decks than the Cutter, but removing a threat from the game could end up as your downfall should it be the one you need. That said, never ever remove a Monkey or Lyrist to cast the Dryad. You only have 2 of each and may well need the one in your hand before you find the second. Cradle Guard is a sweet card, but with 8 echo critters already in the deck, it would be risky to include more. And there's no Masticore because this deck, on a God draw, can deal 11 damage on turn 2. If I had a sideboard, they'd be in it. God draw: Cutter, Jag/Dogs, Dryad, Forest, Random card, Cradle, Giant Growth/Rancor. If you get an Oaks on your second turn, you should have game on turn three. You can't deny that speed. Or course, that's exceptional, but the deck is consistent enough to goldfish at 5.
