Help local churches and other deserving organizations with their promotions. When a church plans a revival, concert, or other presentation, let your customers know about it.
See idea number six. You email list will be a powerful tool. In addition to sending weekly prayer requests, you will add a local announcement section. Promote this in the world's smallest newsletter (see idea number one) which you are mailing to your client base each month.
Because the email is requested, it is not considered spam. When preparing your emails, include these sections: 1 prayer requests, 2 announcements, 3 specials and new releases from your store and, be creative. Add a few (not too many) sections of your own. How about trivia question of the week, for example? Need help with this one? Visit
Bible Quiz each week.
As folks get emails with announcements from other churches, they will likely ask you to include their announcements as well.
This idea will give you an "excuse" to contact local churches. Set aside one hour each week to call ten local churches. Most pastors are in between 9 am and noon. Don't call on Mondays. Most pastor's take Monday's off (hmm, wonder why!?)
Introduce yourself and tell the pastor about your email program. Ask if he has any announcements or prayer requests to be included. The pastor will be glad you thought of him and his church. Even if he has no announcements, he will appreciate your call and think of you when he needs books, etc.
Where to find a list of churches in your area? Yellow pages is the most obvious. Or, if you prefer electronic mode, go to www.smartpages.com and type the word "churches" as "business type." Call ten churches each week until you contacted them all. When you have exhausted your list, start again at the top. Caution: don't call too often. Twice a year is enough; maybe even one time each year.
