KERRY CARES, STILL

The John Kerry Campaign Continues

John Kerry Isn't Giving Up The Fight When It Comes To Uninsured Children . . . Have You? If Not . . .

You Can Still Help!

John Kerry wants to make sure all children (and low-income adults) have health insurance. Isn't that the least we can do as a wealthy nation?

I've been in the hospital (both working and as a patient - a lot as the latter lately) and have seen parents use the emergency room as a doctor's office because they don't have the money to bring their child to a clinic or doctor.

President Bush talks about lawsuits driving up the cost of medical care. Ha! He is so out of touch and so far moved from reality. Maybe it's because he's never had to wait in a waiting room at an ER. He's never had to worry about paying for a doctor's visit once in his life for himself or his children. I've known plenty of people that have. I've heard doctors yell at mothers for bringing their child into the ER for a "simple problem" they should have visited their doctor for. But what's a mom or dad to do if they don't have insurance? What are they to do if they don't have a doctor?

I'll tell you what a low-income family does when their child is really sick--they don't get them the proper medical care and treatment they need!John Kerry has a solution.

I was fortunate. I had two VERY sick children when they were born but I also had outstanding health insurance. My children both had Neonatal Polycythemia. This blood disorder is a VERY treatable disease but left untreated would have led to kidney failure and stroke in just a matter of days.

In addition, one of my children had respiratory and immune system problems. These problems included an IgA deficiency, an elevated IgE, an IgG-2 deficiency, an IgG-3 deficiency, and an IgG-4 deficiency. All which were treated and cured thanks to VERY excellent medical care. I was able to bring my child to the some of the very best doctors in the world at Boston Children's Hospital and have my child treated and cured. In the small town where we lived a pediatrician, on call for our regular pediatrician, told me I would be lucky if my child reached the age of three (and I had health insurance!). He was wrong; today both of my children are normal, healthy, productive and ONLY see a doctor for an annual exam.

That would not have been the case if we had not had health insurance. If it weren't for insurance, chances are I'd probably be writing this as a mother who lost two children. Why? My children's medical care cost a total of thousands and thousands of dollars (for both), by the time ALL treatment and complications were dealt with. There is no way my husband I could have ever paid those bills. We would not have been able to get our children into see the specialists they needed to see without insurance or the ability to pay.

The elderly have AARP and other like organizations there out fighting and lobbying for their rights. Who do the poor, low-income, uninsured, and children have? Who? They have John Kerry! That's right, John Kerry! And, they have you, if you are willing to help! You can do so by writing Senator Kerry and letting him know you support health insurance for children and low-income individuals. You can also read here how John Kerry is calling this health plan by 2012 for every American.
As John Kerry stated:

"Normally, a member of the Senate will first approach other senators and ask them to co-sponsor a bill before it is introduced -- instead, I am turning to you. Imagine the power of a bill co-sponsored by hundreds of thousands of Americans being presented on the floor of the United States Senate. You can make it happen."

Yes, we can make it happen. Let's get health insurance for everyone; let's help John Kerry get health insurance for every American. Write John Kerry HERE or HERE and let him know you support his plan to have universal insurance by 2012. Also, you can write you own two senators. Don't know how to find their address? Do it HERE or contact your United States Representative HERE.

While you are at the Kerry site why not read about his other plans? There's his 2020 energy plan. Then there is the initiative to make sure we have free and fair elections and that every vote is counted. So, one vote can make a difference. Plus his goal to bring the troops home. Our US foreign policy is such a mess these days. We can keep our nukes and chemical weapons (like the stuff known as the "human bug spray" because it attacks the nervous system and kills you in seconds - VX) and condemn other nations for trying to get them or develop them. I want ALL nations to get rid of weapons of mass destruction be they nuclear, chemical, or biological! Why don't we lead by example and dispose of our own crap? We have enough VX to kill the world AT LEAST three (3) times over.

Then there are those bunker buster nukes we are making. We should stop making those nukes before we begin telling other nations what to do. We can't say out of one corner of our mouth "you can't have chemical and build nuclear weapons" while out of the other corner of our mouth we are telling scientists, nuclear engineers, etc. "we need to build bunker busting nuclear bombs." Leading by example would be very wise.

Thank You For The Try

Thank you Teresa Heinz-Kerry, John Kerry, Elizabeth Edwards and John Edwards!

My vote was FOR John Kerry and John Edwards, NOT against President Bush. Thank you for your run in 2004. Thank you, John Kerry and John Edwards for your desire to protect Social Security, for your desire to insure all American's, for your belief that Roe vs. Wade should remain the law, for fighting for the middle-class and poor, for wanting to strengthen ties with our allies abroad, for standing with the labor unions, for wanting to REALLY fight "the war on terror" by strengthening our borders and searching cargo that comes into the American ports, etc. Thank you, John Kerry. Thank you, John Edwards. Thank you to your families. And, thank you to everyone who voted for change.
