Follow-up Segment for
Slayers Fantasy #5
"The cars are finished!" Boomer announced
cheerily to a half dead group of people.
"Whee," Alex said with a great lack of enthusiasm,
"my car is dead."
"Well, it's on its last legs, but not dead," Washu
said, stepping from behind Boomer, "but it's going to die sometime
soon."
"What about our cars?" Tina asked, indicating Nick
and herself.
"We were able to save both of them," Boomer smiled,
"no real problems except with the electrical, and that was from
overtax."
"Which means we can go home," Mackenzie said,
bouncing. He pouted a moment later. "Only.... I don't want to go home
yet."
"World's fastest mood swing, ladies and gents," Nick
said, giving Mack a noogie, "C'mon bro, nobody's kicking us out."
"No, but most of us have lives we need to get back
to," Alex sighed, "jobs, families, social lives."
"Work will probably freak over my extended
vacation," Tina sighed, "Oh well, they all suck, so it's all good."
"The boss knows enough not to piss me off," Alex
smirked, "but I do need to get back."
"Well, if you have any more vacation time coming up,
be sure to visit," Lagoon said as he entered, followed by Cid and the
teaching and senior staff of Garden.
"We wish all of you the best," Rinoa said, bowing
formally, "and we hope you return someday."
"We'll be back, and that's a promise," Lina said
enthusiastically.
"And how do you propose we realm dance?" Zelgadis
asked, "Not all of us have that skill."
"I know," the sorceress winked, "we ask Alex, Celia,
or anyone else we know who has the skill."
Zel sighed. "Oy vey," he said under his breath.
"The cars are packed and ready to roll," Seifer
stated, "and I'll ride back with Alex to make sure all goes well."
"I don't think there will be enough room," Mina
said, "our group got big over the course of the battle. Tina, me, Nick,
Mack, Alex, Lina, Gourry, Syphiel, Amelia, Kelly, Del, Zelgadis, Ihrie,
Fam, Naga, Adderson.... I think that's all of us."
"Sixteen passengers and three cars," Alex pondered,
"that could be trouble."
"Squishy," Mack said, "but most of us are small and
can sit on laps."
"Or I can realm dance some of us home first," Celia
said, "all up to you guys."
"Mass teleport," Alex said, "I know together we can
do it."
Celia nodded, and both headed for the exits with the
rest of those from earth in tow.
"That means you and Irvine can go," Squall said to
Seifer, who was watching the people leave like he was in a trance.
"C'mon," Irvine said, half dragging Seifer with him.
"Wake up and we can go with them!"
"Ri... right," Seifer said, snapping out of his
trance. "Alex, guys, hold up!"
A short time later three packed cars and a few free
standing people stood in the field near Balamb Garden, awaiting the
return zap home. Alex and Celia took up position in the center of the
chaos and confusion, the vampyress taking up on energy shakes before
the trip.
"Is everyone here?" Alex asked, running through his
pre jump list. Heads nodded. "Does anybody need to use the bathroom?"
shaking of heads. "Ok, I'll hold you to that, since in the void of
Between nobody can hear you puke."
This comment elicited a few giggles, mostly out of
nervousness, and Alex nodded as he checked the last item off of his
list. "All right, looks like we can head home. Ready Celia?"
"Ready," the vampyress replied, her eyes glowing
emerald green as she began a little shimmy and shake while opening the
portal between worlds.
"Have a safe flight," Laguna said, waving as a
circle of magical energy formed around the group.
"Come back and visit us often," Selphie squeaked,
bouncing while she waved. "Don't be strangers."
"And away we go," Alex said, a combined warp bubble
forming around the cars and people, sending them between.
The entrance into between was slightly shaky, since
they were transporting more than just people for this trip, but with
some quick recalculations there was smooth sailing for the rest of the
trip.
The first phase out point was Tina's house in
Portsmouth, where they dropped her off with her car, the passengers
climbing out to be taken back to Newport.
Stop two was Sunapee, where Mackenzie and Nick were
dropped off with the Cobra and a small group of Slayers who would get a
lift with the Andrews brothers or fly home themselves.
The final stop was at Alex's, where the very tired
Mustang he drove gave up the ghost and fell apart, the suspension
blowing, the hood sailing into orbit, the tires blowing, and smoke
pouring from all over.
"Shit," Alex said, staring blankly at the remains of
his car. "Just.... shit."
"Hon, we gotta hook you up with some new wheels,"
Seifer said, hugging Alex from behind.
"Not even Washu could fix this, and she's a genius,"
Adderson said, poking at one of the flat tires. "I'm really sorry this
happened Alex."
"My car... is toast," Alex sighed, dropping to his
knees. "I've had this car since I turned 16. It's a classic, all
original parts.... unless you count my modifications. But still, this
car has been through so much."
"We'll get you a new one," Seifer said, trying to
calm Alex down by hugging him. "A better one that you can customize to
your heart's content."
"Can I get a Lambourghini?" Alex asked, looking up
into Seifer's eyes.
Seifer rolled his eyes. "Something in your price
range. A nice sports sedan or something."
Alex pouted, but nodded agreement. "Ok. We'll go
looking later."
"Why later?"
Alex yawned and fell back into Seifer's arms. "Later
is because I need sleep now."
"And that's all folks," Seifer said, falling back
from the weight shift. "He's out like a light."

"Heyas, Celia here, reminding you to stay tuned for
a new series of shorts called Random
Nothingness. Too short to be full length fics, and too long to
be random neural firings, these stories have one connection - all take
place over the summer. After that is Hellgoddess
Rising and An End of Summer'.
Stay tuned or I'll really cause some trouble!"
