A Boring Day
(a ficlet by Warrior Saturn)
(To go with Jack Prelutsky’s ‘A Very Boring Day’)

It all began one lazy summer afternoon when a particular kitty boy declared to everyone in his pocket dimension just how bored he was.
“There is nothing to do,” Alex proclaimed, stamping his foot impatiently. A loud rumble of thunder chose that moment to make itself heart, and he sighed.
“There’s lots of things you could do,” Seifer Almasy said without looking up from his gameboy.
“Name some,” Alex challenged, plunking onto his bed and falling back so that his head and legs were dangling off of the sides.
“Well, you could play some video games, or read a book, or watch tv, or do that site update that you’ve been meaning to do.”
Alex sighed and held a hand up. he then ticked off points on his fingers. “Video games require power, which these storms could easily knock out. I’m not really in the mood to read a book, since I don’t have the attention span necessary to comprehend anything. There’s nothing on TV right now, since I’ve already checked. And site update requires computer, which needs power, which this storm could easily knock out.”
Seifer sighed as he saved his game and shut it off. He took a seat on the edge of the bed near Alex’s legs and fell back into the same position that Alex was in. “All the blood rushes to your head by doing this,” he observed.
“Yup,” Alex replied as a rumble of thunder shook the house.
     “Are you really that bored?”
     “Yup.”
The door opened and in stepped the blond vampire called Spike. He looked at the two sprawled across the bed and arched an eyebrow.
“Evenin’ gents,” he said, slipping his wet jacket off before draping it over the back of a chair. Two hands rose up and waved to him. “Well, looks like I’m the life of the party.”
“I’m borrrrrrrrrrred,” Alex proclaimed yet again, lengthening the word to give it more emphasis. He flailed his legs in the air a little, almost hitting Spike, who was standing near his legs.
“We could do the dirty deed, if you know what I mean,” Spike said, grabbing Alex’s right leg and playfully nibbling his calf.
“No energy,” Alex sighed, kicking his leg free, “plus my mind’s not in the gutter.”
“Not even after what you told Mike-kun about Del and his longsword?” Seifer asked. Alex shook his head. “Damn.”
Spike took a seat on the opposite side of Alex and flumped back, assuming the position that the other two were in. “So, you gents don’t know what to do. Am I right?”
“Close,” Seifer replied, “I suggested some things to keep the kitty boy occupied, but he had an excuse for each one.”
“What time is it?” Alex asked, sitting up a little.
“About 5 o’ clock,” Seifer said.
Alex sat up, snagging the nearby remote control before leaning on Seifer’s stomach and turning on the tv. Several channel flips later the catboy remained laying on Seifer’s stomach.
“Spongebob Squarepants?” Spike asked, rubbing Alex’s back.
“It’s mildly amusing,” Alex replied, “gives me some ideas of what to do for ‘Slayers Fantasy #6’.”
“You mean the Christmas Special?” Seifer asked.
“Yeah, that one,” Alex replied, laying his head on Seifer’s chest.
A momentary silence alerted everyone to the storm passing, and everyone in the dimension rejoiced. Well, everyone except for the catboy, vampire, and hyperion knight.
“No more rumbles,” Spike sighed, still rubbing Alex’s back. “Guess the worst is past.”
“Well, for the moment,” Seifer said as he watched the weather station, “we’re supposed to be getting these on and off until 8:30 tonight.”
A light snore came from the catboy, who had since curled up between Seifer and Spike and fallen asleep. Seifer ran his fingers through Alex’s hair and sighed. “Guess he’s not bored any more,” he smiled.
“Yeah, but we can’t move, lest we wake him and incur his wrath,” Spike commented. They both sighed.
“Well, we don’t have to listen to him complain of boredom,” Seifer said, flipping through the channels. He stopped on VH1 and yawned. “Yay, dance music videos,” he said quietly before kissing the top of Alex’s head.
“Zzzzzzmmmmph,” Alex mumbled, pulling one side of Seifer’s coat over him for a blanket. He was back in deep sleep almost immediately, and the two sharing the bed with him resumed watching TV.
