Original Spells

*God(dess) Slash

     An original spell created by Alex West, the God Slash calls upon the "light beyond the whitest dawn, brighter than the brightest sun", the Silver Goddess of the sky. It's not until the episode titled "Knights of Saturn" that Alex finds out he has been calling upon the goddess Rashkala the entire time for his spell. The spell targets one enemy, and is equal in power to the Giga Slave, but without the danger of destroying the planet. The spell requires a sword of light, which will glow a blinding white as the spell is chanted. The caster swings the sword over his / her head and slashes forward, releasing a beam of pure white light that strikes the target.

     'Light beyond the whitest dawn, brighter than the brightest sun. Lord of light who shines like silver amid the sea of stars. I call upon thee and pledge my allegience to thee. Let the fools who stand in my way be punished by the pure white light of judgement. Goddess Slash!'
 

*Giga Flare

     Another original spell from Alex's personal spell book, the Giga Flare summons incredible dark power into the blade of any weapon, but usually his glaive. The energy forms a globe around the blade of the weapon, which, when he swings the weapon downward, is released as a black thunderbolt. The thunderbolt strikes in the middle of a group of enemies and explodes into an expanding wave of heat and pure energy. This spell is a combination of his Solar Flare attack and his Giga Crisis attack, hence the Giga Flare part.

     'Source of all power, flames of darkness from teh deepest bowels of hell. Come before me now and imbue my weapon with your power. Giga FLARE!'
 

*Time Freeze

     One of the strictly defensive spells in Alex's spellbook. The caster is surrounded by a magic circle shaped like a clock face as they incant the spell. The movement in the area is stilled for a period of time "equivilant to the caster's maximum power" meaning a short duration if a weak caster uses it or a long time if a strong caster uses it. The color in the area drains as the spell takes effect, leaving everything in pale hues and pastels. This spell, though powerful, creates an incredible drain on the caster themself, leaving them vulnerable when the spell ends.

     'Silence beyond a deathly calm, quieter than the stillest air. A break in the action equal to the caster's maximum power. In thy great name let all motion be halted for a period of time. Let those who oppose us be destroyed where tey stand. Time Freeze.'
 

*Dragon Giga Slave

     A deadly combination of two powerful spells, the Dragu Slave and the Giga Slave, Alex devised this spell as the end to an unknown means. This spell is for emergency use only, and only as a last resort. The globe of darkness formed by the caster is inky black with crimson red flowing around it, and the resulting energy beam tears a wide swath in its path, vaporizing practically anything quite easily. Only experienced black magic users should attempt to cast, and only at the risk of utter vaporization or death by energy drain since Alex still hasn't worked all of the bugs out of it.

     'Golden lord who floats endlessly upon a sea of chaos, come forth and unite your power with the ruby eyed lord of shadow. An ancient contract between light and dark, chaos and being, that must be broken in times like these. Come before me, grant your power unto me, and let the fools who stand before us be destroyed by the power you and I possess. Dragon Giga SLAVE!'
 

*Demon Gate

     The first of a long line of spells that are a step above anything previously created, the Demon Gate is in a class by itself. By calling upon the twelve signs of the zodiac the outcome is unknown and more than likely influenced by the time of year and the sign that the moon and the stars are in. This spell affects only one target, but is powerful enough to keep the target from trying anything. A demon circle (inverted pentagram) forms beneath the target, the center vanishing and the outer points slowly opening outward into a demon dimension. Malformed arms and legs reach out and grab the target, dragging them into the demon world, where they are torn apart by the forces within. The gate then closes, a wisp of golden smoke rising from the scorch mark where the gate once was.

     'By the twelve signs of the Zodiac I pledge my life so that they may be called forth. By the blood red tides of hell I command the celestial gate to be opened. Unleash the crushing blow of destiny! Demon GATE!'
 

*Golden Boost

     One of the only defensive type spells in Zodiac magic, the Golden Boost calls upon the combined strength of the Zodiac knights and the Lord of Nightmares. The power required to cast the spell is so great that two people must chant it as one, but the power released is so great that it's well worth it. A large globe of golden light forms above the allies, and when the command words are spoken the globe explodes into a shower of golden sparkles. Those touched by these sparkles are granted increased spell power, so that one little fireball has the destructive force of a Dragon Slave. This spell is only used in times of extreme need, and generally with dire consequences since the spell casters need the effect of the spell more than anybody else.

     'Where the twelve signs of the Zodiac intersect a great power is hidden. Two hearts must be as one to unleash this power. Soul to soul, mind to mind, body to body. Together they can summon this power in a time of great need. Golden Lord of chaos, please lend us your power. Golden Boost!'
 

*Eruption

     By gathering energy into their fist or weapon, the caster can plunge the glowing item into the ground and summon forth great power. With the glowing item in the ground a wave of light pulses towards the target, sometimes breaking off and circling, sometimes breaking and circling multiple targets. The good thing about this spell is that the power doesn't weaken no matter how many targets are involved. The ground beneath the target buckles and a plume of magma erupts and engulfs them. The power is generally enough to stop most advancing monsters. This spell can also be used defensively, since a wall of lava between you and the charging brass demon is a good thing.

*Flame Wall

     Technically not a magical spell but one of Mackenzie's natural powers. He summons flames and winds to his aid, forming a wall of flame around his enemies that slowly shrinks inward. This is also a great defensive spell since a wall of flames between himself and whatever is attacking will prevent him from getting the pulp beat out of him.
 

*Heatwave

     Another non spell but a natural power, Mackenzie once again summons fire and wind to do his bidding. When he uses this spell the air within the area becomes unbearable, often reaching in upwards of 140° F. In concentrated form this spell can be used in force waves, striking the enemy several times instead of just a group of them once. This is the power which is Mackenzie's namesake.
 

*Typhoon / Monsoon

     This spell didn't have a name until much later, and even then isn't used that often. Alex plunged his glaive into the ground, a ring of water forming around the feet of his opponant. From that ring comes a rising water spout that engulfs the opponant and slowly crushes them with the water's pressure and speed of the water's spin.
 

*Holy Shield

     A barrier of white light that forms before the caster or whoever they are trying to protect. This will block the power of most spells up to Garv Flare and Burst Flare, but won't stop a Dragon Slave or larger.

     'Goddess of life, give me strength. I pray to you for the power to protect those close to me. Holy Shield.'
 

*Barrier

     A larger barrier of white light that forms before the caster and multiple targets. The targets need not be grouped together, but must at least be in the area of sight for the spell caster. This will block anything, up to and including the Dragon Slave and even the Demon Gate.

     'Mother who nurtures all life, she who protects all she gave birth go. Grant me the power to stop all that comes my way. Barrier!'
 

*Laguna Tilt

     A combination of the Rah Tilt and the Laguna Blade, this spell is effective against something that absorbs black magic. The black blade glows a faint bluish white as it takes effect. However, the spell's duration is shortened due to the incredible amount of power required to cast, and the caster must be proficient in both black and spirit shamanist magic.

     'Lord of these dreams that terrify, sword of cold and darkness that broke from the heaven's bonds, come forth and absorb the power of the eternal and the infinate. Ever lasting flame of blue, grant me your power. Laguna Tilt!'
 

*Nightmare Fury

     The second of the legendary Zodiac attack spells. The Nightmare fury creates a globe of pure blackness between the caster's palms, ribbons of blood red and gold flowing across it. When the command words are spoken the globe explodes into streams of blackness, each of which takes on a nightmarish shape. These nightmare creatures attack one opponant and surround them, breaking down their power before breaking them down. As with the other zodiac spells, a magic circle with the signs of the zodiac forms beneath the caster for the duration of the spell. This spell can take out up to 4 opponants in a single casting, but trying to take out any more than 4 will result in permanant damage to the spell caster.

*Seraphim's Call

     A powerful spell of unpossession, much like the Meguido Flare or a Flow Break, this spell surrounds the target within a cloud of angel feathers. A Seraphim forms, her wings wrapped around the target in a loving manner, bathing them in purifying light. The evil influence may take damage with this spell, but usually they are just exorcised to be taken out with another spell. The caster of this spell must know high level white magic in order to access this Zodiac level of an exorcism spell.

     'Mother who nurtures all life, grant your undying love to us in this hour of need. Show those who have strayed from the path back to the road and heal them. Seraphim's Call!'
 

*Maelstrom

     The most powerful elemental spell in Zodiac magic, it's contested that it's not zodiac in nature, but shamanistic. This spell can take out a fairly powerful dragon with minimal effort, but the power needed to cast the spell is so intense that the caster is often left in a weakened state for days afterwards. Alex has since taken to flying while casting in order to avoid the drain by being on the ground, and this alleviates some of the problems. The caster is surrounded by a vortex of wind and water as lightning crackles through the sky. A tidal wave strikes the target, washing over them moments before gale force winds and thousands of bolts of lightning strike them and eradicate them from the planet. With the flying added, the spell's effects are doubled. The caster, though, must know high level wind, water, and electical magic before attempting this spell.

     'Let the winds blow like there is no tomorrow, let the waters of the world surge and swell, let the lightning split the sky and crumble the earth. By my powers to control the elements let all who oppose me be destroyed. Goddess/ of the sea and skies, join your powers now. Malestrom!'
 

*God(dess) Giga Slash

     This spell can be used by one or two casters, but requires the use of swords of light. If two casters invoke the spell, then one uses the black magic half and the other casts the white magic half. This spell calls upon the Lord of Nightmares and Rashkala, the silver goddess of the stars. The two magics, though the use of magical fusion, join seamlessly into a wave of black and white power that is as powerful as three Dragon Slaves.

     'Golden lord who floats endlessly upon the sea of chaos, come forth and unite your power with the shining silver goddess of the stars. An ancient pact between light and dark, chaos and being, that must be broken in times of need. I call upon thee, swear my allegience to thee. Let the fools who stand before me be destroyed by the powers you and I possess. God Giga SLASH!'
 

*Storm Striker

     One of Alex's first original spells, this summons a tempest to attack a group of enemies. This is the predecessor of the Maelstrom spell, but attacks with a lot of lightning with rain and wind added. Alex taught this spell to Lina and Amelia, who taught it to Zelgadis, who in turn taught it to Sylphiel, so a buttload of people now know the spell. An aqua colored sphere forms in the caster's hands, dark clouds spiraling overhead to pitch black in the center. A beam of light emerges from the sphere, piercing the center of the clouds. The wind begins to kick up to gale force, rain beats down upon the area, and lightning crackles through the sky, the bolts forming on large bolt that splits the sky asunder before it strikes the enemy and fries them to a cinder.

     'Never underestimate the destructive power of nature, for what may be beautiful one minute can be destructive the next. I call upon the powers of thunder and lightning, wind and rain, to strike down all who oppose me. Goddess of the sky, deliver your smiting blow! Storm Striker!'
 

*Acid Storm

     A spell that has been sitting at the back of Alex's spellbook for quite some time, this spell hasn't been tested yet. The effect is supposed to be a cloud of rain that attacks the enemy and lowers their defenses, but with everything he's been doing lately he has yet to test it.

     'Source of all power, water which has been poisoned by evil forces. I call thee forth here and now to wipe away the evil which stands before me. Acid Storm!'
 

*Detoxify / Dispell

     Yet another untested spell in Alex's spellbook, the effect for this spell is supposed to remove all evil influences in an area. It's a curative spell that's supposed to be more powerful than Dicleary, but still has yet to be tested.

     'Blessed, humble hand of God, light and breath of mother earth. By the light of purity which I possess I command all the negative energy and evil influence in this area to be gone. Dispell!'
 

*Geyser

    Originally an innate sailor power, the great genius Washu and sorcery geinus Lina Inverse pooled their talents to create this spell. The caster usually requires a bladed weapon of some sort to invoke the power. What the caster must do is summon the spirits of water into their weapon, then plunge said weapon into the ground. A geyser of boiling hot water will erupt beneath the enemy and engulf them, up to a radius of five feet. If toned down a couple of power levels the spell can be used to take a quick shower after a battle.
