Elsewhere in Ultimecia’s fortress Lina, Zelgadis, Gourry, Amelia, Mackenzie, Nick and Celia were fighting their way towards the sorceress’ control room. Their stores of elixirs were nearly exhausted, their strength was diminished by every battle, but their sense of duty to their friends kept them going.
“Doesn’t this ever END?!” Lina exclaimed as she fired off a hail of fireballs at a dragon who was getting too close for its own good.
“I dread to think about what would happen if we lost,” Celia said, driving her nails into the neck of a demi-human who had thought it fun to attack her. She smiled as neuro toxins were injected from her nails directly into the creature’s bloodstream, and a moment later the demi-human was as limp as a rag doll.
“We’re running out of resources quickly,” Zelgadis said as he passed Nick another elixir, “We’re down to our last five elixirs, and they need to last until we can reach the main chamber.”
“Tell that to them,” Mackenzie said as he unleashed the force of his eruption attack, catching several creatures in the lava’s wake. He regained his feet moments before a large axe crashed into the ground where his head had been moments earlier.
A blinding light filled the corridors a moment later, dazzling all who gazed upon it. The creatures in the corridor with them screamed in pain as they were quickly erased from the face of reality and the plane of existence. Lina shielded her eyes from the light, wondering where it was coming from. Zelgadis perked his ears up as he identified the source of the energy output.
“It’s definitely Alex’s,” he said as he took off at a dead run, his cape billowing out behind him.
“Mister Zelgadis, wait up,” Amelia cried as she ran off after him.
“Ooooooh!! When are you going to learn not to leave us behind?!” Lina demanded as she ran to catch up with the first two.
“We really should be sticking together,” Nick said as he ran to catch up with Lina. Mackenzie, Celia, and Gourry weren’t too far behind, all moving in a dead run.

     “What.... what is this light?!”
“The power from within, the highest transformation ever achieved by a warrior.”
Ultimecia fired off several energy blasts, all directed at the person who was undergoing a transformation before her. Alex back flipped out of the way, his clothing disintegrating as ribbons wrapped around his body, forming the under suit for his Warrior outfit. He continued to back handspring across the room before flipping into the air, where he executed a flurry of punches and kicks, his bracers, gloves, and boots forming in that time. He performed one final back flip, ribbons wrapping around his upper body to form his armor. The angel wings which had formed during his transformation folded up behind his body, taking on a technological theme as they became part of his armor. His silence glaive formed in his hand as he spoke his introduction.
“From the silent star, Saturn, a warrior sent across time and space to protect the light. I am the silent angel, Warrior Saturn.”
During his intro, Zelgadis burst through the door, shortly followed after by Amelia and Lina, with Nick and the others bringing up the rear. They stopped dead in their tracks when they saw Sylphiel, Seifer, and Irvine laying on the ground, nothing but shriveled corpses.
“Aaaaahhh, more have come to give their powers to me,” Ultimecia cackled, turning towards the newcomers with an evil grin on her face, “How wonderful. Would you care for some tea, perhaps a biscuit or a pastry? Or would you like to die right away?!”
“Like even!” Lina grumbled, a globe of dark energy forming in her hand, “Garv Flare!”
The energy ball dissipated before it even left Lina’s hands, leaving the sorceress to stare in shock as one with a power greater than hers began to move towards her.
“You possess great powers, and I shall enjoy them, since they will make me all the stronger.”
‘She’s not even paying attention to me,’ Alex thought as he watched Ultimecia advance towards Lina, ‘maybe she doesn’t consider me to be a threat. Oh well, time to teach her a lesson she won’t soon forget.’ “Light come forth!”
The blades of the silence glaive vanished once again to be replaced by blades of light. Searing light filled the room, and those who were prepared for the occasion took sunglasses from their pockets and put them on, since Lina usually cast some spell or another that had a high blindness factor. Ultimecia shielded her eyes the best she could, and cried out in pain as her retinas were exposed to the blinding power of a weapon of light.
“What in the nine hells is going on here?!” Lina demanded as she and the others ran to Alex’s side, “Who... or what, IS that thing?!”
“That’s Ultimecia, a powerful sorceress who the SeeDs defeated three years ago,” Alex replied, “they thought she was dead. However, her obsession with revenge gave her the strength to remain alive and come up with a plan. She would have taken you or Amelia, but found that you were protected by L-sama, and Amelia was too dedicated to fighting for justice, so she chose Sylphiel.”
“Someone who was powerful, but pretty clueless about some things,” Lina said, catching Alex’s drift, “how original.”
“Tell me about it. She summoned a Giga Slave that would frighten even you.”
Lina began to turn crimson from the thought of somebody like Sylphiel using her spell better than she could, but realized that it was Ultimecia’s power that gave Sylphiel the ability to summon something that strong.
“So what are we going to do about the big ugly thing?” Gourry asked.
“It appears that she’s a little blind at the moment,” Nick said.
“And recovering a little too fast for our own good,” Mackenzie added, “She’s going to be mighty pissed off when she can see us again, and that’ll probably be within a couple of minutes.”
“Then we should prepare for the final battle,” Zelgadis said, drawing his sword and casting an Astral Vine spell to give the blade added strength.
Ultimecia lashed out with a mass of tentacles, which were easily dodged by the group. One wrapped around a potted plant near where Lina stood and a moment later the plant shriveled up.
“Watch out for her drain webs,” she said, “if one hits you then you’ll be sucked dry in a matter of moments.”
“Which means she’s going to be difficult to beat,” Mackenzie said as he flipped out of the way of a second sweep that came towards him as he tried to gather enough power to utilize a Heatwave, “she’s not giving us enough time to fire off anything big.”
“The small stuff won’t do us any good,” Zelgadis said as he slashed one of the tentacles in half, only to have it reproduce into two more, “we need something that’ll hit her and keep these things from coming back for more.”
“Good luck,” Nick said as he dropped the temperature around him to sub arctic levels, “this is going to take most of my power to maintain for a short period of time.”
Ultimecia lashed about with her drain webs attack, quickly tiring her targets out since they had to dodge and weave before they could fire anything large off at her. The Slayers then made the biggest mistake they had ever made in a battle - they stuck too close together while exhausted. Ultimecia lashed out and quickly caught them in her energy draining web.
“You fools, I have all of you now,” she cackled, “there’s nothing you can do except be drained and give your energy over to me!”
“I.... think this may be the end guys,” Lina said, “it’s been a blast... while it lasted.”
“What... no famous last words that can be misquoted for ages to come?” Zelgadis asked, “This really isn’t like you at all Lina.”
“Well.... this is sort of short notice. If I had known my life was going to end during this adventure then I would have written a long speech.”
“At least we won’t suffer long,” Mackenzie said, “oh well, good-bye world.”
As they closed their eyes to accept their fate a large spinning blade cut through the air and slashed through their webs, dropping them onto their butts. They opened their eyes to see Squall, Rinoa, Laguna, Zell, Selphie, and Quistis standing in the doorway, each with weapons ready for action. Rinoa’s boomerang returned to her after completing its pass, and she clipped it back to her wrist mounted launcher.
“Looks like we arrived just in time,” Squall said as he charged at Ultimecia, his limit skill unlocking.
“I guess we just have a knack for perfect timing,” Zell said as he used his incredible strength to break apart the webs binding the Slayers.
“Thanks,” Alex said as he was helped to his feet by Laguna, “but how did you guys find this place?”
“We’ll explain later,” Laguna said as he provided some covering fire for the others, “Selphie, Rinoa, recharge these guys and see what you can do for the other three.”
“Right,” Selphie said as she spun her nunchucks around in an interesting manner, “Full Life!”
Waves of magical energy swirled around the Slayers, replenishing their depleted energy resources and giving them renewed strength. Rinoa then gave each of them a bottle containing a neon green liquid.
“Wow.... ether,” Alex said as he chugged the contents of his bottle. He made a face before saying, “Seems like they haven’t improved the flavor much, have they. Yick.... green death flavor.”
“Maybe you can give us some hints on how to make them taste better later,” Squall said, “right now we need to defeat this witch.”
“We’ll see about healing Irvine, Seifer, and Sylphiel,” Selphie said, indicating herself and Rinoa, “since I’m sure we’ll need all the fighters we can get in this battle.”
As Rinoa taught Selphie how to cast the Resurrection spell, the Slayers and the SeeDs joined forces, forming a formidable front line offensive. Amelia decided her talents were needed elsewhere, which was fine with Lina, since Rinoa and Selphie could use her healing powers.
“Say Alex, can I borrow that weapon of light for a little while?” Lina asked, acting cute, sweet, and innocent.
“If you can hold onto it,” Alex said, handing her the pole arm of light. Lina nearly fell onto her face due to the immense weight of the pole.
“Well, they say the heavier the weapon, the more powerful it might be,” Lina puffed as she struggled to right the weapon and stay on her feet, “I’ll take the back line and start casting a spell. Everyone else is welcome to beat the crap out of her and keep her occupied until I can finish my casting.”
“Whatever,” Laguna said as he moved out of the path of another drain web, “just make sure to keep those behind us covered!”
Ultimecia soon found out what a headache a large group of people can be, since two or three can create enough of a distraction for one or two others to really work up something big. First she found herself on the business end of Squall’s Lionheart attack, then she was attacked by Rinoa and her dog, Angelo. Zell got in on the action with a long string of powerful punches and kicks, and that was quickly followed up by a combination Heatwave and Cold snap tech by Mackenzie and Nick. Zelgadis and Gourry moved in to get a few good strikes in, clearing the way for Alex to unleash the power of his limit skill.
After the initial strike the fighters fell back, waiting for the other three to be resurrected. Amelia and Selphie were hard at work with this, since Rinoa had decided that the younger girls had more skill in this department and her spells would be put to better use in the offensive.
“How’s it coming?” Alex asked, throwing up a protection barrier against a hail of fireballs.
“It’ll be a couple more minutes before their energy is fully restored,” Amelia said, “they were pretty much gone, but with the combination of our powers we were able to bring them back from the brink.”
“Good. We’ll need them in a couple of minutes,” Squall said before launching another offensive assault against Ultimecia. This time the sorceress was ready for him, and promptly threw him across the room and into the others.
“You fools are just wasting your energy,” Ultimecia cackled, “why not just give it to me and make it easy on yourself.”
‘Unleash the anger you feel,’ ran through Alex’s mind, ‘teach her not to mess with you or your friends.’
‘Now is not the right time,’ Alex sent back, ‘I need to wait for the right moment. I know it’s tough, but I need to do this my way.’

<music: Going History from Slayers>
Ultimecia lashed out with her drain web once again, snagging Squall without much trouble. Zell and Gourry were caught while trying to free Squall. Rinoa was loading her boomerang when she was caught up in the web, and Mackenzie and Nick were captured while trying to free her. Zelgadis began to say something to Alex, but he was caught in a cocoon of the draining material. Laguna muttered a curse under his breath before opening fire upon the sorceress, only to have his gun knocked out of his hands before being tied up in the web.
“This definitely looks like the end of us now,” Mackenzie said as he struggled to keep his mouth free of the sticky substance, “it’s been great while it’s lasted, but I’m afraid I can’t do anything more.”
“Just give in to her?! You have got to be kidding,” Lina said as she charged at Ultimecia with the pole arm of light glowing black with a Giga Slave, “You guys are weaker than I thought.”
“Lina, don’t do it,” Gourry said, “you’ll vaporize all of us!”
“If I don’t take her out then it’s all over,” Lina said as she leapt into the air and swung the weapon downward, “Giga.... Sla...?!”
A solid blade of drain web caught Lina in the stomach, piercing right through her body. She was lifted off of her feet and pinned to the ceiling, the energy within the pole arm dissipating as her life was drained away.
     “Lina!!” Gourry cried.
“Lina?!” Zelgadis and Nick said in disbelief.
     “Miss Lina?” Mackenzie said, blinking.
“That tears it,” Alex said as he watched the pole arm slip from Lina’s hands, the blades of light vanishing as it fell to the floor. An aura of incredible power formed around him as he began to mutter an incantation in an ancient tongue. His hair began to blow wildly around his face as he spoke the incantation, and the motions he performed were comparable to ancient yoga and martial arts warm-up moves.
“What’s he doing?” Rinoa asked moments before a surge of energy raced through her body, tearing some of her life force away.
“It looks like he’s summoning the power of a Maelstrom,” Zelgadis said as his mouth was freed, “but how can he have that much power to put into a spell like that?!”
Alex’s warrior transformation reversed itself as he poured the energy from that into his spell, the jacket from his previous outfit billowing out around him like a cape. A large globe of darkness formed between his palms as he spoke the incantation, a magic circle forming beneath him to spin in a clockwise direction.
“That’s no maelstrom,” Mackenzie said, “That’s....”
     “Nightmare.... FURY!”
Alex brought the globe of darkness before his body, which exploded into a wave of darkness. The wave broke into multiple tendrils of darkness, each of which formed some sort of nightmarish creature that attacked Ultimecia. The drain web was broken, dropping the weakened fighters to the ground once again. Lina’s body fell from the ceiling, and Gourry moved himself beneath it to cushion her fall. A blinding light filled the air behind them as three people were brought back from the beyond, each with full power.
“That takes care of that,” Amelia said as she and Selphie moved back to defensive positions, both exhausted from the casting.
“Now it’s our turn to kick that bitch’s butt,” Seifer said, “I’m just a bit pissed off about being used in such a way, and I’m in the mood to teach her a lesson she won’t soon forget.”
“Yes, let’s show her what SeeDs are made of,” Irvine said as he stood back to back with Seifer, a white aura forming around his body. “Shining silver goddess of the stars, come forth and unite your power with the glowing golden lord of chaos...”
“An ancient pact between light and dark, creation and chaos that must be broken in times like these,” Seifer chanted as a dark aura formed around his body.
“I call upon thee and I pledge my allegiance to thee...”
“Let the fools who stand before us be destroyed by the power you and I possess!”
     “Goddess...”
     “....Giga...”
     “STRIKE!!”
The auras forming around their bodies intertwined as they performed mirrored motions, a globe of glowing darkness forming above them. They brought their arms into perfect synch as they spoke the command words, the wave of light and darkness tearing through the air and striking Ultimecia in the chest, drilling through her. The sorceress pitched forward, shocked that someone could actually harm her, and weakened by the attack. Seifer and Irvine stumbled when their spell ended, but didn’t collapse like the first time they used it.
“Hurry up and hit her before she can recover,” Seifer said, leaning on Irvine for support, “Use anything possible and any means necessary.”
“You heard him,” Zelgadis said as he broke free of the webbing. He drew his sword and held it with the blade before his body. The blade glowed as angel feathers began to swirl around him. He brought the blade down beside his body as he continued the initiation of his attack.
“Mister Zelgadis, wait for me,” Amelia said as she leapt towards the front line, her hand bell appearing in hand, the ancient symbol upon it glowing as angel feathers began to swirl around her body as well.
“And now.... for me to get my revenge,” Lina said as she struggled to her feet, a white glow coming from where the drain blade had struck her, “can’t say that I’m unable to do two things at once, since I’m healing myself while I’m about to kick your butt into the next dimension.”
She turned her head towards Alex and said, “Make sure you can summon that Demon Gate spell, since we may need it when she goes down.” She then took her singing blade from inside of her cape, her talismans glowing, the jewel in the hilt of the blade glowing as well as angel feathers also swirled around her body.
“What kind of power do they possess?” Rinoa asked as she formed a protective barrier around the weaker members of the group.
     “Angel attacks,” Mackenzie said.
“Then Alex shouldn’t need that Demon Gate spell,” Quistis said, “He has Holy Judgment on his side.”
“She’s about to unleash an esper attack,” Squall said, bracing himself for Griever’s attack.
“She’s not going to get a chance,” Zelgadis said as he thrust his sword forward, “Angelic Justice!”
     “Angelic Symphony!”
     “Angelic Rhapsody!”
A wave of angel feathers came from Zel’s sword, striking Ultimecia with holy power and cutting her multiple times. Several powerful waves of sound and feathers struck the sorceress as Amelia rang her hand bell, the symbol inscribed upon it glowing pure white as the attack was utilized. Finally Lina swung her singing blade above her head before swinging it forward, a wave of pure angelic sound and angel feathers striking Ultimecia with enough force to knock her backwards. The sorceress looked at the Slayers and SeeDs with contempt, since they were doing to her exactly what she had planned for them.
“Sylphiel, we need a recharge,” Zelgadis said as his attack subsided.
“Right,” Sylphiel said, nodding as her own talismans glowed with holy power. Angel feathers swirled around her as she performed the motions for her tech. She finally brought her hands down before her body and spread them wide while saying, “Angelic Recovery!”
Angel feathers and holy light swirled around each person in the room who fought on the side of justice, replenishing their energy and giving others a super charge. Alex took the glowing stone from his pocket and held it to the sky while shouting the incantation at the top of his lungs.
“Release the light from the dark, deliver us from the shadows. Release the light unto the dark, Enlighten those locked in the shadows. ALEXANDER!!”
Angel wings unfolded from behind him, encircling the group as Ultimecia fired off one final salvo of evil spells. The spells struck the wings and dissipated. A moment later the wings unfolded, revealing a large robotic suit of armor. The esper unfolded its wings to full span, the feathers glowing moments before a very large salvo of holy missiles were fired from them. The missiles converged on Ultimecia, striking her multiple times before exploding in a blinding flash of light. Then there was silence.
