Over dinner
that night Seifer and Irvine were doing a tag team retelling of the battle
within the complex after Kirinis and Alex left atop Ridley to stop the
missiles.
“.... And then Seifer here unlocked the Fire
Cross mark 3, utterly devastating the army before us... please pass the
pepper.... and then Anassa and Karna used some sort of duel combo attack
to take out something five times their combined size.”
“Irvine, you’re embarrassing me,” Seifer said,
nearly choking on his drink, “you also played a key part in this battle.”
“And they’re embarrassing me as well,” Anassa
said, her face twisted in disgust. Karna chuckled at that.
“Yeah, but your part was so much cooler,”
Irvine replied to Seifer as he added some pepper to his food.
“Come here you...”
Seifer got Irvine into a headlock, knocking
the cowboy’s hat to the floor, and proceeded to give him a noogie. The
two burst into laughter, which caused the other people at the table to
sigh, before Seifer leaned over and kissed Irvine on the lips. Adderson
turned to Alex and said, “Are they always like this?”
“Oh, now and again,” Alex replied, sighing
before taking a bite of mashed potatoes, “Usually I’m the one who has to
kick their butts.”
“Maybe in your dreams,” Irvine said as he
and Seifer tossed crumpled napkins at him, which bounced off of him and
landed in his food. A twitch formed around Alex’s left eyebrow.
“My food... that was my food,” he said in
shock, “you.... are SOOOOO dead!”
“Oh crud! He’s not going to...”
“Mega BRANDO!”
The people sitting at the table, as well as
the table itself, were blown up by the spell. Several tables around them
also received damage from the effects, and several windows in the area
shattered due to the force of the shockwave created, giving the smoke a
chance to escape.
“Oh man, we’re fried,” Karna said as he fell
out of his chair.
“Never mess with the mage,” Alex said from
the chaos, “I thought you all would have learned that by now.”
“Is this how you end every adventure?” Kirinis
and Adderson asked nobody in particular as they brushed the dust and soot
from their clothes.
“More or less,” Selphie sighed as she began
to brush her hair back into place, “more or less.”
“Guys, we have a new mission for you,” Tenal
said as he stepped through the chaos to hand them a small folder, which
Selphie took from him. “And in the future,” he added, “please refrain from
blowing up garden property, since I need to bust MY ass to get it fixed.”
“Jessica’s in trouble,” Selphie said as she
read the contents of the folder. A light breeze alerted her to several
people speeding past her, all on their way out the door to the main building
and the exits. “Hey, wait for me!”

<The credits for episode 3 roll as Alex dashes
out of a side door, followed by Seifer, Irvine, Adderson, and Karna. On
an overhang near them is Anassa, who leaps into the air while running,
flips a few times, and lands next to Karna, continuing her run. As they
speed past the front entrance Squall, Rinoa, Kirinis, and Selphie run to
catch up to them. Zell and Quistis come speeding through the exit gates
atop Zell’s jet board, narrowly avoiding several students and innocent
bystanders.
The group sets out over the plains and through
woods, startling flocks of birds into flight and getting the jump on random
monsters as they pass through. They then run near the ocean on their way
to Balamb Harbor, with passers by waving to them and cheering them on.
They eventually reach Balamb town and harbor, where Fujin and Rajin are
awaiting them on Cid’s private schooner. They leap aboard with seconds
to spare, as the pilot is anxious to get going. Quistis and Zell barely
make it, with Zell’s jet board taking a header into the harbor. Once all
are aboard they speed off towards Trabia Garden.>
End episode 3
“Hey, Adderson here. Boy, it’s great to finally
join the action again, even if I’m in another world. But hell, Alex is
here and he knows his way around, so I guess I’m safe. Anyway, in the next
episode we’re off to Trabia again, where the lands are being rampaged by
something leftover from the second sorceress battle. What is it? Stay tuned
to Slayers Fantasy episode four and find out.”
Anassa: “It’s absolutely magical.”
