Although grain is now stored in large silos, Port Victoria once boasted some of the biggest grain stacks in the area. Most of the ships were 4-masted, and included the Viking, Passatt, Pamir, and Lawhill. For many years there were grain races from Port Victoria to England. The races were a challenge for the crew, and their only thought was to outsail the other ships. However, the origin of the races was quite simple - the first ship to reach England received the highest price for its cargo.
Today, Port Victoria is a tourist attraction. People come from all over the world to enjoy fishing , swimming, and diving near the wrecks. Of course many come to simply relax and enjoy Port Victoria hospitality.
