Harvest Moon 64 Forever's OFFICIAL F.A.Q.

I get a lot of mail. A whole heck of a lot, actually. As I've scrolled through and answered what I could, I've seen many questions being repeated. So, in the interests of my visitors (and myself!) I've complied an official HM64 Forever Frequently Asked Question list. If you have a question about the game, check out this FAQ. Odds are you'll find your answer.

Q: How do I build a fence?

A: You must first chop down stumps with your axe. It takes 6 swings with the standard axe to bring the stumps down.. and each busted stump yields 6 wood pieces. You can retrieve wood pieces by using the "A" button next to the wood bin, located on the right-hand side of the chicken coop (on the outside of the building, facing the door). Take 1 wood piece at a time, and place them on the dirt area in your farm. Continue placing them right next to one another to yield a fence!

Q: How do I feed my chickens correctly?

A: First you must visit the Green Ranch. Chickens will only eat chicken feed bought from the store at the Green Ranch. Take the feed you purchased, and equip it as you would a tool. Go to your chicken coop, and use the "A" button in front of each chicken stall (located on the left-upper hand side of the screen). The stall where the name of your chicken(s) poped up is where the feed must be put every day. Use the "B" button in front of the appropriate stalls to place the feed. It may take a few tries to get positioned correctly, but keep at it. After about 5 days, your chickens will begin to lay eggs.

Q: What does the "Invincible Katori" do? (I won it at the swimming race)

A: It only helps to protect against disasters. Fences take longer to break down, and damage taken from storms decreases. For total protection, you need the other "turtle statue".

Q: Does the second photo album/"Great Hall" really exist?

A: The controversy over the existence of these two would make the debates over abortion and the death penalty look like a Sunday afternoon picnic. I have heard the arguments for both sides, and I can only say that so many people have e-mailed giving information on pictures for the 2nd photo album that it makes it tough to believe that it was all a hoax. I'm going to leave the information up under "Photo Albums Exposed" until I have solid evidence either way.

Q: I can't find the last Power Nut. You know, the one that you get by fishing in the ocean. Does it really exist?

A: Oh, it exists. You might need to do a lot of fishing to get it, though. It is also possible to get it during other seasons other than spring, but I have heard that during the spring you have the greatest chance of getting it.

Q: What in blazes is the "edible grass"?

A: Edible grass is an item that grows in the forest and cave every season except winter. It looks like two long green strands that are curled at the top. If you have an item, and want to know what it's called, press the "Z" button (on back of the controller) to identify it. Edible grass also is known as "edible herb".

Q: What are the recipes used for? Can I make them in my kitchen?

A: Recipes are for collecting only. You can't use them or interact with them in the game, other than to check out which ones you own by looking at the sheet tacked to your wall in the kitchen extension. If you collect a lot, however, your rating you receive from your father after two and a half years will be much better.

Q: How do I get to the beach?

A: To get to the beach, enter the Green Ranch area. Don't go through their main gate. Instead, follow the black border on the upper right to the lower right hand side of the screen. That trail will lead you to the ocean.

Q: When is Harvest Moon 64 coming out?

A: Harvest Moon 64 is already out in the United States. I believe it is out in Canada, also. It was released in the U.S. Dec. 21th, 1999.

Q: Okay wiseguy, if it's already out, then why can't I find it in any stores?!?

A: The game is still in heavy demand. Many stores are sold out, or just don't have any in stock. You might want to check out the online ordering scene (such as amazon, ebworld, etc.). Stores that seem to carry it the most are BestBuy, Electronics Botique, and Babbages.

Q: Hey, why don't you update more often, you lazy bum?

A: H-h-hey... I'm a college kid, remember? I don't have loads of free time. Expect updates often, just not -too- often.
