Bath Sachets

These little sachets can be made in quantity, and used one to a bath. They can be made in a pretty fabric, but for everyday, the herb mixture can simply be spooned into a square of ordinary cheesecloth and tied with string. The cheesecloth can even be reused once the herbs have lost their properties. To use the sachets, either throw one into the tub and leave it, or hold it under the faucet as the bathwater is run. You may find that it can be used for a second bath. This mixture is wonderfully refreshing and invigorating; change the varieties of herbs in the mixture if you want a different effect. Cup measures are used here to ensure the correct proportions.

You will need:
4 cups dried lemon verbena
2 cups dried thyme
1 cup dried peppermint
Fabric such as organdy or cheesecloth, which allows the water to penetrate easily

To make:
1. Mix the herbs together thoroughly in a bowl. Cut out pieces of fabric to make the sachets. In this case, cut a rectangle that will fold into a square, leaving a little extra to make a turning at the top.

2. With the right sides of the fabric together, sew along the sides. Turn the right way out, and turn down the top edge to neaten. Sew this in place. Fill with the herb mixture, and tie the bag together with ribbon or cord.
