Perhaps the first instince of the UN
being involved in the Kashmir dispute was in 1949
especially since India asked for help from the United
Nations Security Council. United Nations Documents Archive on Kashmir offers a comprehensive list of documents that were passed in 1948-1949 concerning the state of Jammu-Kashmir The UN helped to implement the 1949 cease fire between Pakistan and India. UN Resolution on Kashmir Throughout the crisis it has attempted to keep some kind of peace and work towards peace between India and Pakistan in relation to Kashmir. The UN Securtiy Council passed Resolution 126 in 1957. This resolution hoped to put into effect the former UN passed measures. |
