I think that Steve Yzerman is the best hockey player ever!!!
Steve was born in Cranbrook British Columbia on May 9 1965 but grew up in Nepean, Ontario. He started playing hockey when he was 7. Steve had just turned 18 when the Detroit Red Wings drafted him in the 1983 draft. Steve is still playing for Detroit and has been their captain for 12 years. In his first year he was the youngest player to be a representative at the NHL All Star Game. In the 88-89 season Steve was awarded the Lester B Pearson award after a 155 point season. But I think the highlight of his career came when he led his team to a Stanley Cup victory in the 96-97 season. They swept the Flyers in four games! Then again in the 1997-1998 season he led his team to the Stanley Cup once again, sweeping the Washington Capitals. He led all players with the most play-off points and won the Con Smythe trophy! Steve has a wife, Lisa and 2 young daughters, Isabella and Maria Charlotte. He is very helpful in the community and a very nice person, not to mention his very good looks! Steve got to represent Canada as the assistant captain at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano. Steve played quite well, but unfortunately Canada didn't do so well coming in 4th.
