My mother was told that her birth mothers' name was Alice St. Pierre.  Alice was about 16 years of age.  She was staying at the Sophie Little Home for unwed mothers until she had my mother.  (My mothers' birth name is Suzanna Marie (or Suzette Marie) St. Pierre.  Alice St. Pierre was originally from Fall River, MA and was of French decent.  This is all we know.  My mother is 5'3" has red/auburn hair, blue eyes and a very fair complexion.  We would love to meet her birth mother and/or family...but will respect their wishes.  We would like to know more about our true heritage/lineage and/or medical history if at all possible.  My mothers'name was changed to Barbara and she was adopted by a couple from Providence, RI.  If you can help in any way...my mother would be eternally grateful.  With every year that passes by... she fears her chances are lessening.

Nov 2005 Update
We are searching for Alice St. Pierre.  We were told that Alice was a teenager in 1946, when she gave birth to her daughter on April 19, 1946.  Alice was originally from Fall River, MA. .. but was said to have stayed at the Sophie Little Home in Cranston, RI during the pregnancy.  (Sophie Little Home didn't open their doors to unwed mothers until the 1950's)  The birth took place at Roger Williams Hospital.  The doctor that delivered the baby was Dr. George Dwyer.  Alice named her daughter Susanna Lee St. Pierre.  The adoptive family lived in Providence, RI at the time.  The adoptee's name was changed to Barbara Jane Carroll.
We have been searching for years...and are beginning to think that the information that we were given about this adoption may have been fabricated.  If you have any information, please contact me at your earliest convenience.  I have a web site dedicated to this search with pictures of the adoptee as a child and now.  That address is:  Http://rchessmann.tripod.com.
Please help us find Alice St. Pierre.  She is dearly respected in all of our hearts.
Sincerely, Robin
