Rikuo, Rikuo, Rikuo. My absolute fave, as you all realized by now. He doesn't seem well-liked among Darkstalkers fans! With all those other fans, why can't Rikuo get some attention here? Poor guy.
He used to be this emperor guy when there was a whole buncha mermen and mermaids, until Pyron decided to let one on Rikuo and caused an earthquake, making everyone BUT Rikuo die. Cut Rikuo some slack! Personally, I thought it was brave of him to go through a tragedy like that! Truthfully, could you just face the unknown world before you just after you've learned you're the last of your species? Yeah, I know, Rikuo wasn't the LAST last, but he thought so at first, and STILL braved into the landworld which was completely unknown to him.
So, basically, Rikuo's kinda inspired me. I like the water guys, so I made a page about him. Here's some info:

Full Name: Rikuo Aulbath
Nicknames: Fishguy, Fishie, Fish, Fishfrog, Rikki, Rik, Aulbath, Daredevil (and anything else fish-related)
Age: 44
Birthplace: Brazil
Birthdate: 1958
Species: Merman
Skin: Green, orange fins, yellow face and chest.
Eyes: Aquatic blue.
Personality Traits: Rikuo tends to be a peaceful, nature-loving type. Unfortuantely, he has little patience during dangerous situations, and he despises being ignored. While others may have a cynical outlook on life, Rikuo is rather positive (maybe not as much as Felicia) and content, keeping high spirits even if the chances of his kind surviving tends to be slim after the days of Pyron's arrival. He does have a temper if it deals with the undead (ala Lord Raptor) and doesn't get along with many "landwalkers." He takes a lot of risks in his life for anything important to him.

Background: Rikuo was born and raised in a an underwater village made completely out of coral reef. He was raised by his mother, Darlia, and his uncle, Sektor. His father, Oacer, worked for the village's small-time military, and disappeared on a mission to the land when Rikuo was three. Rikuo learned to be a kind and gentle person from Darlia, while he trained to be a warrior through Sektor.
Once upon a peaceful day within the depths of the waters with the kingdom of the creatures known as mermen and mermaids, an earthquake went off, destroying the entire kingdom. All left was none other than their emperor, Rikuo. He woke up on the shores of the Amazon, remembering of the tragedy and all he lost. Still, he went on into the unknown landscape. If you're lucky enough to defeat Pyron in the game, then it continues like this: Rikuo meets upon a mermaid, surprised to see another of his kind, figuring only he was the remaining of the aquatic race. Together, they married, their hopes and dreams of bringing on back the race of mermen and mermaids alike. They also went on to search for any other survivors of their kind, to widen their species.
Born was Alba, the only son of the family, their future and life. Once Alba went missing, Rikuo went on a search in the waters. Spotting upon dark, strong currents, he figured that Alba must be in there. Then, without thinking of his own safety, he dove into the currents. Once defeating Jedah, he saves his son, and meets upon the sister species of his kind...

How I Write Him: I like to write Rikuo as a smart, very agile, and very quick Darkstalker. He's not the strongest in physical strength, but he has amazing will power and a great mind. His ability to control water also comes in with controlling weather, since I've done some research on the merfolk. Rikuo is the strongest merperson, one of the quickest Darkstalkers, and extremely flexable, which also describes why Felicia may have called him a good dancer in Darkstalkers 3 when Rikuo has her as a mid-boss. Even though Rikuo is in Brazil, I prefer to write him with a Spanish accent rather than Portugese. Why? One, Spanish is easier to remember (x_x). Two, Rikuo lives in the Amazon River. The merfolk would have to have gathered in from all over South America and the seas rather than being all in Brazil at once. All other South American countries speak Spanish, so I find this makes more sense.
Lastly, I like to tie in the Japanese names with the English names. It's just fun that way. With Rikuo, his first name is Rikuo and his last name being Aulbath. That way, he can be called by his last or first name.

True or False: Rikuo could possibly have the intelligence enough for a mechanic, able to make some things. Because of this, Lord Raptor has some jealousy packed on the merman, making them rivals. This I just heard about from a friend that she heard this was from one of the manga. It might not be true, but I still like to write about it, because I think rival stuff tends to be funny to watch, read, and write.
