October Wolf Tales
Pumpkin Party

On Saturday, October the 16th, our team had our first get-together outside of the arena.  Emily
Uza and her parents graciously offered their home for the occasion.  We had so much fun!  As
each of the kids arrived, Emily brought us into her garage, and let us each choose a pumpkin!
She explained that we would be carving pumpkins and the best overall pumpkin would win the
big prize and there would be other prizes for “Funniest”, “Scariest” and so on.

When only a few of us had arrived, we played tag.  Then when everybody was there, we did
some serious, pumpkin carving!  We worked hard for 30 minutes to an hour carving the pumpkin
we thought would win.  It turned out, that they couldn’t choose the best because they were all
too good.  We had a draw to determine the winner!  It turned out to be B.W.  Congratulations!
B.W. won a kit with nail polish, nail brushes etc.  Everyone else got a Halloween pencil!  Even
though we didn’t win, we still had so much fun being with one another.  We threw the insides of
the pumpkins at each other - even at the coaches!

After the pumpkins, we had a team meeting to get our official numbers.  Also at this meeting,
our coaches helped us learn more about our positions.  After a while everyone started to feel
hungry and wanted to have some “munchies”.  Emily’s brother and his friends were teasing us!
Boys!

We went outside, with full tummies to play tackle football.  I, for one, was not too keen on this,
but it turned out to be fun.  We played on and on, but then someone got hurt.  We decided to take
a little break and go watch a movie.  We took a vote on which movie to watch, and Mighty
Ducks 2 won by 1 vote.  We watched that for about 5 minutes, and then most of us had to leave.

We had a great time, so on behalf of the team, coaches and parents we would like to give a great
big “THANK YOU” to the Uza family.

Dig in everyone!

Ooh, that's slimey!

Let the carving begin!

Honest, this is what they use to make pumpkin pies.

Bus Fun in Belleville

On October 23rd, our  team had a game in Belleville.  It wasn't an ordinary game.  We were taking a travel bus!  Everyone had so much fun!  We sang songs, watched Mighty Ducks 2, practiced team cheers and played games. Our bus driver was really nice.  He even watched our game.

When we got there, everyone calmed down a bit.  We played an amazing game!  It was probably our best game all year.  The Belleville Bearcats are an excellent team. They are ranked BB.  They played really well too, but I think we tired them out.  After the first period we were down 4-0 but we ended up losing, 6-2.  We aren't ashamed though.  Just very, very proud!  We were the very first team this year to score on them, and we got two goals!

Everyone played a super game!  Desiree and Michelle were our goal-scorers.  Caitlin played great in the net making so many excellent saves!

To end the day, the bus stopped at "The Big Apple" in Colborne.  We had a delicious supper and afterwards, the team went outside.  We went outside to play with the wild rabbits running around.  It was really cool.  Also outside, was a GIANT, I mean giant, apple!  We ran up the stairs. *Pant* It was tiring! (What a great way to do team training, eh?)  We learned some pretty interesting things about those yummy snacks.

On the way home, everyone was pretty tired but that didn't stop us from playing Truth or Dare!  I won't get into all the details...   Overall we had a great time, and played great!  Congratulations team.  Let's play the same way against Port Hope today!

Power Skating Punishment

The coaches are trying to kill us! Not literally, of course. Though, every other Monday, for 5 sessions, most of the team has to do *moan* power skating. It's torture! You know what they say: no pain no gain - or should that be: no brain no pain.

At the beginning of the first session, I thought, "Ok, well...this isn't so bad..." Then, we started doing some things that were a little more complicated. Wow, some of them were really tiring! Then, after about 25 minutes, our power skating instructor said, "Ok everyone! Warm-ups are over!" I couldn't believe she considered those difficult tasks to be "warm-ups"! I did not want to see the drills!

After we finished, I was aching all over! Thank goodness it's only once every other Monday. We just might be able to survive... We know it's for our own good, so we'll keep at it!

Remember team: Bring water bottles! (And smelling salts.)
