Well, we went down to the Rio Grande Valley near the border to Mexico this
week-end but it was pretty much an over night thing so I didn't really get to
go any where. However, on the way back through the King Ranch we
stopped at a little town called Sarita where I learned a bit about it's history.

*"Mifflin Kennedy came to Texas in 1846 as a steamboat captain with the U.S.
Army during the war with Mexico. He and his friend and business partner, Richard
King, first found wealth as riverboat captains of the Rio Grande then after the Civil
War, bot men bought thousands of acres of South Texas land." In 1904 and they
established the Kennedy Pasture Company. Eventually, John G. Kennedy named
this small town after his daughter, Sarita. They have a museum there if anyone
wants to stop by. We didn't go in though, as we had to get on our way.

We started back home when we stopped at Robstown for a break. My human
had been told countless times about a little shack of a food stand that had the
best shrimp around. Seems we couldn't pass up the chance. I didn't have shrimp
but I did of course have... fish.

While I was there, we also stopped by the Fairgrounds but nothing was going on.
I did however, learn that Robstown celebrated it's 100th birthday last year. It was
named after Robert Driscoll (who also had Driscoll, Tx named after him). It was
established back in 1906. The 100 year banners are still up. Honestly though, there
wasn't much to see in Robstown. It's just a one main street town from what I
managed to see but it's a proud little town none the less. Let's see where the next
trip takes me. -- Nick
