The story: Bowser has kidnapped Princess Toadstool and is holding her hostage in mushroom Palace. During his attack, Bowser stole the Power Stars that protect the castle and hid them in the paintings and walls throughout the castle. These paintings are the portals to the Mushroom Kingdom's vast worlds. If Mario doesn't recover the stolen Power Stars from Bowser's army then he will gain control over the Palace forever.
