Yes. It gets its own page, because this is one topic that I can - could - possibly will write effusively on.

To those of you (poor people) not in the know, MOOing, MUSHing, MUCKing or whathaveyou is basically a glorified form of roleplaying. Yeah, that dungeons and dragons stuff. But before you write me off completely as untouchable (I make no protest against being a weirdo), let me justify the weeks, months and now years I've spent online (not to mention the hours I spent daily, clicking away at the keyboard). To me, roleplaying is a bit of escapism. Too much isn't healthy, sure, and I do have a life (and friends!) outside of those virtual caverns. I've dabbled in computer club, but it's too damned impersonal. (As any of my FrozenDelights crew can tell you, I share just about everything.) Harper's Tale, in its own odd way, is a community that I'm proud to be a part of, and extremely lucky and grateful to be at High Reaches' Weyr. I don't think I've ever seen a collection of more neat, wonderful and utterly wacky people except for a Spider Robinson story or two, to make a small plug. (And in no way do I mean any legal infringement or other nastiness, for any of the author's lawers that may read this in the future. :P).

So why MOO? Because it's a chance to be someone totally different, or in most cases, be yourself (such as Lis is, or was, once upon a time) in a world you love. If you ask me, there's few worlds as wonderful as Pern to want to live in. No wars, medieval society that works without seeming too nasty, and dragons. (Alright, so I admit, that's what drew me to it in the first place, and the reason I applied for a dragon after the first two weeks.) After having spent many years onlin (having started August of 1998), I've built up an impressive ammount of People I Know. (In that ephemeral online way.) These people, whether I'm hitting them up for RP or sharing adventures on the channels (God, so many in-jokes), are exposed to a side of me that, sometimes, just wouldn't be appropriate other places, and we share a unique common bond of a love of dragons, good stories and fun characters. Ilove you all. ;) And that, in long, is why I MOO: to connect every day to snugs and hugs and various kinky globals and know that on the other side of the screen, there's someone as happy to see me as I am to see all of them. I hope. ;)
