Message from Spur of the Moment
This is just an updated message containing any info of local music, important new events, or just some crazy ideas.
05/13/01 - Ben Srokosz - Hello to my die hard Spur of the Moment followers, as well as any new arrivals..........today I'm just updating my situation, as well as what our other spur artists are up to. Currently I'm working and living in London, Ontario as a call centre representative for TD/Canada Trust. In my spare time I'm keeping busy rehearsing and collaborating on the recording of Sheldon Babin's debut album. Because I still get emails about Junipur, I will say this.......at this point there is no talk whatsoever of a reunion. Phil Dennis is currently attending University in Nova Scotia, Matt Maillet is doing the same in Waterloo, Jonathan Abrosimoff is getting ready to start makeup/special effects college in the fall.......and Adam Dysarz is living in Calgary, AB with some oldtimers of the spur posse. Before the move Adam and Jonathan finished their sophomore Sdovecarrier album with Ben Srokosz at the helm, but have not yet set a release date.
Ben-april 20, 2000 - Hello, wow i guess I haven't written for a while but I'm living in BC now....and its awesome. The mountains.........thats all there really is to say. I'm doing my best to keep Spur of the Moment alive but i need your help!!!! Everyone I know in Ontario needs to immediately sign the guestbook and tell me whats new!!!! I will be starting serious recording of my new album....."the grass is greener".....(i think thats what i want to call it) soon so watch out everyone!!!! Peace........
11/29/99 - (Ben Srokosz)
Hello everyone, its time for another message i believe. I am currently working on this site and making some cds. Yes, my pal Keegan has agreed to duplicate cds for Spur of the Moment so now our future is in his hands...........(oh god). Well, that means that I now have copies available of Horry Leden, and I am in the midst of reissuing My first album, (s/t 97), Junipur's first, (s/t 97), Horry Leden's first, (the cauliflower tree, 98), Sdovecarrier, (really really up 98), and others on CD. I just want to be able to play them on my cd player to be honest but this will benefit everyone hopefully. I am also adding an updates section so that everyone will know when there is new stuff and when to continue surfing. Oh, and by the way. There IS new stuff coming on the label. It'll either be low key or it will all hit at once, like a big a-bomb but trust me, its on its way. Unfortunately Spur of the Moment is made up of almost entirely college-age artists so that tends to interfere a bit. Anyways, see y'all next time.
Sept 7, 1999 - (Ben) Well, well, well, .......... things are strange. I'm having major problems trying to duplicate CDs at this point so for all of you who are looking for Horry Leden's new album or my own, sorry..... I'm trying but I just can't seem to find anyone with a burner who can hook me up. Its frustrating, and I'm doing what I can to keep the ball rolling. However what I am doing is trying to look for some new talent to add to this fine little label. Any groups who would care to sumbit demos, please do so. I would very much like to see some fresh faces, and add to the depth of the Spur music. Make new friends but keep the old........thats how it goes. Oh yeah, and I'll likely attempt to revamp this site. It needs a new look. Well, enough talk....... I'm just wasting more time.......
*News Flash!*
We at Spur of the Moment Records are very sorry to announce that Junipur, as of the middle of July, will be taking a hiatus, well, a really long break. Phil Dennis, lead singer/guitarist will be taking summer vacation, and at the end of the summer will be returning for a bit before making a long move with his family to Poland. The news came as kind of a shock to all of us and we are still scared to think that Junipur may have a shaky if not hazy future. Phil will be returning in the future but with College and other commitments, it his hard to say what will happen. To all of the Junipur fans, we say thank you so much for the support, and from myself, Ben Srokosz, I would like to say thank you to Junipur for all that we have been through. The better part of the last 3 years of my life have been spent with Junipur, and without their creativity and commitment, Spur of the Moment Records would have never seemed like a dream i could persue. They have driven me to new heights in my own music and have taught me that there is nothing better than having fun playing your music, no matter where it is taking you. As long as you love it, thats all you need. I feel as though an important part of Spur of the Moment is being taken from me, but I will do my best to keep things in order and release more great music. I can only hope that someday, down the road, these guys will find each other and get back together. I know no matter what I'll be there.
June 7th, 1999 - Well, my birthday was yesterday, its Ben by the way and I had time to sit and evaluate everything. My conclusions were that I need to work more on this website and on Spur of the Moment Records in general. Now my album is selling, and both Horry Leden and Sdovecarrier will be releasing soon so it is time to harness all this summertime energy and make some magic. I would like to set up a Junipur, Horry Leden, Sdovecarrier and Ben Srokosz show before the Middle of July, so if anyone can help me make this happen, please let me know.
April 24, 1999 - Hey, its Ben. Just like to say that the recording is all done for my new album and I just have some technical difficulties to work out before I can resume and release it. Unfortunately I have been busy in ways that have been slowing me down in the label stuff, as well as the album stuff. Some days I just get so frustrated with it all but with interest to those who are waiting to hear Choose to Decide, and for the sake of my own sanity, I'm going to get it done asap. Hang in there everyone and if you have to email me and tell me I'm a stupid moody fuck.
March 10, 1999 - The music biz is unpredictable, thats for sure. So much is happening at Spur of the Moment, its hard to keep up. Besides the 3 or so new albums in the works:(Horry Leden, Staid, Ben Srokosz), Touch Green is no more, and Junipur's album is finally for sale. Thanx to all those who attended the Junipur CD release party on March 5th and saw live performances by Sdovecarrier, secondclass adventure, Staid and Ben Srokosz. It was certainly an entertaining evening and we hope to do it again for the new releases. Its hard to guess where things will go from here. The word keeps spreading, and the discographies keep growing. To all those who support us, thank you. We hope to have a great year to cap off the milennium.
December 1st, 1998 - this past weekend Junipur and Touch Green made a road trip to Kingston, Ontario to play a show at the Polish Hall. It was a great experience for the two bands to realize how well they work together as a package, so they are contimplating more shows together. If you are putting on a show and want two great original bands to play at it, let us know. Otherwise, the pair will be appearing at the CAW hall sometime soon, in Chatham Ontario, and at Blenheim Arena on New Years Eve.
November 15th, 1998 - there is a SpuroftheMoment compilation in the works..... if you are interested in some info, email us......... it will have tracks by local bands, and all of the Spur of the Moment bands. If you are in a local band and wish to add a song, let us know!!!!!

Ben:"Last night I went to the Parkview(Chatham Bar) and saw Square Root of Margaret, (a Chatham Band). I saw them once before, about 2 years ago at the CAW hall in Chatham, and at the time was thouroughly impressed. This time was a whole new experience. Square Root delivered all the excitement of the show at the CAW hall, but with a new maturity that really impressed me. I had the chance to talk to 2 of the bands' members, about future plans and local music. Needless to say, Square Root are working hard to release a follow up to their debut album, and it seems that this time may be their jackpot. They have a roaring live show, their new songs are catchy and well written, and they are geared towards more self promotion, and radio play. I must say, I hope they make it and in my mind they already have, because when I saw them I was honestly just as excited to hear the song "Wednesdays On Jupiter" as I was to hear Hayden play "In September" at the Embassy in London."
