Chapter 15
Melissa:
I went to go check on Durbbie once Brian came back and relayed what had happened. I tapped on the curtain.
"Go away. I don't want to talk to you," Durbbie's voice sounded.
"You sure?" I asked poking my head inside. "I was thinking maybe you could use a little company."
Durbs shrugged. "Whatever."
"So I guess the photo shoot is off huh?" I asked trying to make light of the situation. Durbbie was kind of sensitive and shot me a look that said she wasn't amused. "Sorry," I said. "I thought "
"Will you stop thinking?" Durbbie said slightly agitated. "I'm really not in the mood."
"Fine," I said. "But I'm just as scared as you are. You know where to find me," I said as I closed the curtain and made my way back to the others.
"How's she doing?" Brian asked. He was obviously concerned. Maybe Durbbie's theater skills will wear off
"She's fine. Just tired," I lied. "She had a rough night."
Brian studied me. "You got as far as I did huh?" he asked. I nodded solemnly. "Is she always like this or are we just lucky?"
Was that sarcasm? "She's not always like this Bri," I pointed out. "Durbbie can be whatever she wants to be, but when she's put into apposition like this, she doesn't know how to deal, so the attitude comes out. That's just the way she is."
"Whoa, calm down Meliss," Brian said holding up his hands in surrender. "I didn't mean it like that."
I took a deep breath before answering. "I know. I'm just a little stressed," I pointed out while rubbing my temples. "It's not easy on this side either." I had graduated to rolling my neck. I rubbed it slightly.
"You OK?" Brian asked.
"I'm fine." I rubbed the back of my neck. I must have slept on it wrong.
"Let me get that," Bri offered. Who am I to turn down an offer like that? Brian started massaging my neck and shoulders.
"You're coming home with me," I said as Brian worked his magic.
Brian laughed slightly and put his head on my shoulder. "I'd like to, but I don't think that's a possibility right now."
I turned my head to face him, and then it happened. He kissed me. It was just a small, little kiss, but wow. I was a little dazed to say the least. Brian cleared his throat.
"Um, I guess I better get back to the others," he said before giving my shoulders a slight squeeze and leaving.
I hung back a little bit so it wasn't obvious that something happened.
Nick:
Melissa came walking back into to area where we were all gathered. "Is she OK?" I asked.
"Yeah. She's fine. Give her a little time." I noticed that she glanced with Brian for a split second and turned a slight shade of pink.
Just then we all heard a ring of a telephone. We all immediately looked for our phones. Mine was off and Melissa said her phone was in the back. Brian picked up the phone.
"Hello?" he asked. "Hi Leighanne. How are you?"
"Who's Leighanne?" Melissa asked. "Is that his sister?"
"Nah," I said fiddling with something on the table. "That's his girlfriend."
"Girlfriend?" Melissa asked slightly shocked. "Excuse me." She got up and went back to the area with the bunks.
"That's great Baby," Brian said. "I love you too. I can't wait until I see you again. OK. Bye."
Something happened. But what?
