CHRONICLES

Although we, the staff of CapChron Nights, create the main plots, and "world of DC" for you to play in, we rely heavily on you, the players, to provide us with all our many sub-plots that are the real "bread and butter" of the CapChron Nights universe. Some of this we get through watching you roleplay at the games and in between games actions, but the majority come from your chronicles. This is why we put such a heavy emphasis on chronicling at CCN. Without your chronicles, it becomes much harder for us to keep a healthy "living" universe that involves your characters actions. This section talks about what a chronicle really is, what we like to see in one, and what are the perks (and penalties) for chronicling or not. NOTE: Due to fact that we *really* rely on being able to "funnel" important player information through our Clan Primogen to their clan members, it is REQUIRED for players who are playing Primogen to Chronicle, on time, to maintain that postition in our game (that goes for deWinter's new Harpies too ~smile~).

What is a Chronicle?

A chronicle is a written "record" of what happened to you at the game, and where your character is "going". It's upon this that 90% of your personal backgrounds are based upon. The chronicle is always due one month after each game (unless we say otherwise). It can be mailed to us in hard copy, but we prefer getting it in email format mailed to CapChronNights@aol.com

What do we like to see in a Chronicle?

OK, we'll be honest, if we get *anything* from you, we're happy... sometimes we've gotten as little as a small email, or as large as multiple pages. But what we really like to see follows a simple pattern: 1: Tell us what happened to your character at the game. 2: Tell us what friends/enemies you made. 3: Tell us what between games actions you'd like to try to accomplish. 4: Tell us the long term goals of your character. It's based upon these four points that we judge a chronicle... Point 1 doesn't have to tell us *everything* you did, but a small overview helps us get a flavor for your character. Points 2 through 4 are the ones that help shape your personal backgrounds for the next game, and even can effect mutli-player plots.

What do you get if you Chronicle by the deadline?

The most important thing you get is Personal Backgrounds. If you don't chronicle, you only get City and Clan backgrounds at the next game, not any Personal Backgrounds. Second, if you chronicle you get experience for your character. Third, if you chronicle you get to *spend* experience for your character. Forth, you get to influence *other* players backgrounds... For example, if you wanted to teach something to another player, you can't do it unless you chronicle that you did it (we don't accept someone saying "he said he'd teach me dominate at the game")...it *has* to be in that peson's chronicle that they are teaching the power to the other or it didn't happen. Also, if you wanted to affect another players' resources, business, inlfluence, etc... that also has to be in your chronicle or it doesn't happen. So you can see how important it is to chronicle. Oh ~smile~ if you chronicle you also get to play in "Sam's Useless Trivia Game" that can get you some extra XP between games.

How much Experience do we give and how do we award it?

First off, you have to chronicle to get any XPs. Then, each of the staff members (Sam, Eric, Eileen, and Jo Ann) read the chronicle and put in their "vote" for how much XP to award it. Then all the "votes" are averaged and that's how much XP you get for your chronicle. Points are based upon: Roleplaying 1-4 points, Costuming/Props used, 1-4 points, Chronicle 1-7 points. This will give you between 3 and 15 experience points per game that you chronicle. The average player gets around 11 points per game.

So in closing....PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHRONICLE ON TIME! :o)
