TIMELINE

This is a very rough timeline that covers some of the major events that have marked the history of DC's Kindred.

• 1800 - City of DC grows in population to 3000, drawing the first Kindred population.

• 1803 - Arthur Carroll, of clan Brujah, declares himself the Prince of Georgetown.

• 1812 - Ventrue try to assume control of DC, which they assert is "thiers". They send the British in to take the city but the Brujah "Americans" hold off. The White House is burned but the British invasion fails. Prince Carroll's hold on the DC area grows.

• 1865 - The Ventrue and Toreador controlled Southern States try to take DC under their control. Brujah from all over the area flock to Carroll's banner. With their help, and strong Anarch support, Carroll holds the Ventrue and Toreador off and declares himself the Prince of all DC.

• 1865 - Numerous Confederate victories in the early part of the war shake Carroll's supporters and the Anarchs and many Brujah flee the DC area, leaving the Kindred population low again.

• 1867 - Arthur Carroll is assasinated by a member of clan Assamite. The Ventrue are suspected but nothing is ever proved. Clan Ventrue assumes that when DC falls to the Confederates, a Ventrue Prince will take control in the vaccum.

• 1867 - Marissa Meltorme, of Clan Tremere, siezes control of the city and declares herself Prince. The Tremere are so impressed by this "unknown" Tremere that they instantly make her Pontifex of Eastern America.

• 1870 - Post war DC now has population of 1,000,000 drawing more Kindred to its doors.

• 1870 - Male centric Clan Tremere decides to replace Marissa with Alexander Hanson... he never arrives from Vienna.

• 1875 - Prince Marissa ejects Archon Justin VanSavage, of Clan Gangrel, from the city, declaring that no Archon is allowed in DC.

• 1899 - Justicar Anneke, of Clan Toreador, and Prince Marissa clash... but the result is that Justicar Anneke leaves Prince Marissa to rule unimpeded. She tells her Archons to avoid DC unless on specific Camarilla business.

• 1900 - Triumphant, Prince Marissa gains "unofficial" title of "Queen of the United States".

• 1901 - President McKinley is assassinated by an Anarchist bullet and many think it was by Prince Marissa's hand to ensure her control of the US government. He's replaced by Theodore Roosevelt who took the power from the Ventrue controlled businesses and returned it to the Government.

• 1920 - By the time of the Great Depression, Marissa has so much control that even her own clan can't send anyone into DC without her say so.

• 1921 - Giovanni shipping threatens Prince Marissa's iron grip on DC. She blames rising crime amongst the Kine against the Giovanni and bans them from DC. None of the other clans understand Marissa's overwhelming hatred of Clan Giovanni.

• 1954 - Marcus Vitellius (Vitel) emerges from Torpor in the middle of the National Mall after two hundred years of sleeping in what had been an abandoned swampland. He immediately takes control of Clan Ventrue and becomes the new Ventrue Primogen. Names Darrien Tilton, of Clan Ventrue, as his second.

• 1960 - Rumors abound that Primogen Vitel and Prince Marissa are lovers. Marissa names Marcus Vitel her Seneschal and Darrien Tilton takes his place as Ventrue Primogen.

• 1962 - Rumors flourish around Prince Marissa, that she's directly influencing the Presidency, and may have ghouled President Kennedy. This continues with rumors that she "arranged" for LB Johnson to become "her" President after Kennedy's death. The Camarilla sends a Camarilla Overseer to assess the situation. He is never seen from again.

• 1968 - On the night of Martin Luthor King Jr.'s assassination, Justicar Anneke and all six of her Archons ambush Prince Marissa in Arlington National Cemetary and kill her. The battle is deemed to be the worst Kindred conflict ever seen in DC up to that time. Only one of Anekke's Archons survive the battle... Justin VanSavage. DC's kine population breaks out into riots over King's assassination. During that time maurading packs of Sabbat slay most of the elders of DC. The heaviest losses are in Clan Toreador. The only Toreador elders to survive the massacre is Kalista DuPris, the Childe of Justicar Anneke. Justicar Anneke declares Marcus Vitel the new Prince of DC.

• 1968 - Clan Tremere is outraged by Marissa's death. The strongest Tremere in DC, Regent Vadim Ivanov, challenges Marcus Vitel to a duel. Vitel accepts and using Thaumaturgy, sends the Tremere screaming into Final Death. No one else challenges his authority.

• 1968 - Riots are blamed on Clan Giovanni by the new Prince. A Blood Hunt is called on any Giovanni who dares to enter DC, and it seems to others that Marcus Vitel shares Marissa's unnerving hatred of Clan Giovanni.

• 1968 - Rumors circulate that Prince Vitel helped "set up" his lover, Marissa...turning her over to the Justicar. Rumors also circulate that Kalista DuPris and Marcus Vitel are lovers as well, and that's why she managed to "survive" the Toreador slaughter.

• 1970 - In response to losing the city to the Ventrue, Clan Tremere sends Pontifex Peter Dorfman to the domain to maintain a strong Tremere presence. Marcus Vitel keeps strong reign on city and the Camarilla is pleased to have "control" again.

• 1970 - Although allied with Justicar Anekke, Prince Vitel keeps up Prince Marissa's policy of not allowing Camarilla Archons to reside in DC, but he allows Archon VanSavage to have access to the city during times of need.

• 1970 - Prince Vitel embraces Monica Black and names her his new Ventrue Primogen, sending Darrien Tilton off to Europe to be his Ventrue contact in that continent.

• 1973 - Monica embraces her twin sister, Cynthia. The two are thought to be the lovers of the Prince.

• 1980 - A state of "cold war" emerges in DC between clans Ventrue and Tremere as hostilities between Prince Vitel and Pontifex Dorfman grow bolder.

• 1996 - The Anarch movement makes a bold initiative, attacking the Primogen Council while in full session. All Primogen but Monica Black, of Clan Ventrue, and Bjorn of clan Brujah are slain in the attack. Clan Nosferatu, under the control of Primogen Nathan, abstain from these meetings and he is spared. Prince Vitel was in a private meeting with Pontifex Dorfman at the time. It is later discoverd that the Anarch attack was engineered by an Anarch member of Clan Tremere. A blood hunt is declared on him and a Gangrel, Tabitha Prestor, who turned out to be his lover (she was the Childe of the now dead Gangrel Primogen). One of the only long surviving Toreador Elders in DC, Charlotte Jane Ashbury, takes the Toreador Primogenship...she is later discovered to be a Nosferatu named CJ.

• 1996 - Justicar Anneke sends Archon Wyatt "Marshal" Earp, of Clan Ventrue, to DC to be stationed there. Prince Vitel acquiesces and allows Archon Earp to establish his base in Ventrue territory in DC.

• 1996 - Marina Griffin of Clan Ventrue moves to DC and becomes Prince Vitel's personal lawyer. He later names her the CFO of his personal corporation, MVI (Marcus Vitel International). Many suspect they are lovers now that Kallista long fell out of "favor".

• 1996 - Kallista DuPris takes Charlotte's Toreador Primogenship, and the long hidden Nosferatu Primogen, Nathan, is discovered to be a Setite and slain, starting years of blood fueds between Clans Nosferatu and Setite in DC.

• 1997 - Laurie Craven, a rogue Archbishop on the "outs" with the Sabbat, takes her warparty of Gangrel, Brujah, and Pander into Baltimore and takes over the city for some time. They are finally beaten back by Brujah Justicar Don Cruez and a young Brujah named "Lucky" Bertrand, who was made "Warlord". They also had help from Prince Vitel and his forces. They freed the captive Prince of Baltimore, Suede of Clan Brujah, and returned her city to her. Thinking Craven defeated, cities in the area relax. The attack on Richmond comes less than 24 hours after Craven's departure from Baltimore. The Prince and all Primogen in Richmond are slaughtered and Richmond falls to the Sabbat. Laurie Craven is declared Archbishop of Richmond, Va.

• 1997 - Archon Earp names Lucien "Lucky" Bertrand, of Clan Brujah, as his Archon-in-Training.

• 1997 - Pontifex Dorfman stunns the Kindred of DC with the news that Prince Marcus Vitel is not a Ventrue at all, but really a member of the lost clan Cappadocian, thought extinct. Justicar Anneke takes Prince Vitel into custody to face a hearing at the Camarilla Inner Council. She places the city under the temporary control of Archon Wyatt Earp. It's also discovered that Prince Marissa wasn't Tremere at all, but a Cappadocian with the same sire as Vitel.

• 1998 - Marcus Vitel, who reveals that his true name is Lucius Aelius Sejanus, is pardoned by the Camarilla, by the Ventrue Inner Council member, Lady Arika Buckingham. Clan Cappadocian is petitioned as a probationary Camarilla member and Sejanus returns triumphant to DC as Prince. Names his Childe, Monica Black, as first Cappadocian Primogen in the Camarilla. Names his corporate CEO of MVI, Bolton Montgomery, the new Ventrue Primogen.

• 1998 - Clan Cappadocian becomes a full member of the Camarilla, Prince Sejanus leaves DC to become first Cappdocian Inner Council member to the Camarilla. He leaves Marina behind to "watch" DC for him. It is rumored that he used his elder powers of Mortis to concieve a Kine child with her. Marina is later seen with a mortal baby named Griffin Julian Sejanus Vitel.

• 1998 - Jareth, of Clan Toreador, becomes Prince of DC, sent by the Camarilla to clean the Sabbat influence out of the city. Prince Jareth is known as a "cleaner of cities", he names Bolton Montgomery his Seneschal.

• 1998 - Archon-in-Training Bertrand is assassinated by Nicholas of Clan Assamite under the hire of Vlad Tepes, Prince of Frankfurt.

• 1998, May - Queen Brandywine takes control of Philadelphia and names herself Archbishop of Philadelphia.

• 1998, May - Archbishop Brandywine kills Prince Jareth using a magical sword.

• 1998, May - Archbishop Laurie Craven takes advantage of the chaos ensuing after Jareth's death and storms DC... with no clear leadership, DC falls to the Sabbat as DC's Kindred flee to Baltimore and other surrounding cities. Seneschal Montgomery organizes "retreat" of DC's Camarilla and sees to it that all escape safely.

• 1998, September - Justicar Anneke leads a bold attack to retake DC... The battle includes a one on one fight between herself and Archbishop Laurie Craven in the Washington Monument. Only Laure Craven emerges with fresh diablerie lines. The initiative to retake DC fails, and Craven remains the undisputed leader of DC.

• 1998, September - Marina Griffin returns from London to Baltimore to lead the new initiative to retake the city. Gideon Noah Romano, of Clan Brujah, is chosen to assist her due to his military expertice. A final battle to retake the city is planned.

• 1998 - September - A desperate battle is fought against the forces of the Sabbat in DC. When things look bad, ex-Prince Sejanus arrives with his Archons (mostly Anekke's old Archons). Laurie Craven is wounded and retreats. With the departure of thier leader, the Sabbat morale crumbles and DC is retaken. Laurie Craven returnes to Richmond to lick her wounds and solidify her powerbase. Sejanus announces that he has abdicated his position as a member of the Camarilla Inner Council and proclaimed himself the Cappadocian Justicar. He names Marina Griffin of clan Ventrue Prince of DC. Marina names Gideon Romano her Seneschal.

• 1998, October - Mage War starts, Giovanni offer help if they are allowed to become part of the Camarilla. Lady Arika agrees reluctantly.

• 1999, January - Prince Griffin becomes involved with Constantine Giovanni, Primogen of Clan Giovanni in DC.

• 1999, January - Gangrel Justicar Angus the Unruled is slain by Bolton Montgomery's sire in an "accident".

• 1999, March - Lady Arika Buckingham, Ventrue Inner Council member, visits DC looking for a new Ventrue powerbase since London was in the hands of the Mages. She is assassinated while in DC. Tiberius Caesar, the President of the Ventrue Senate, declares himself Ventrue Inner Council member. Tiberius names Lord Tarrence Covington, Duke of Kent, as his "second" as Vice President of the Ventrue Senate (also known as Tarrence Kent, he is Marina Griffin's sire).

• 1999, October - Constantine leaves DC and is believed dead. Prince Griffin leaves DC unannounced to search for him in Italy.

• 2000, January - After three months of no word from Prince Griffin, Seneschal Romano takes control of DC and declares himself Prince. Mage war ends and Giovanni are asked to "leave" the Camarilla. The Trinitarians, a new blood line, emerge with cybernetic powers and Thaurmaturgy, ask to be recognized by Camarilla.

• 2000, February - Marina Griffin returns to DC but the conflict is brief, leaving Romano as Prince of DC. Romano names Silas of Kells as his Seneschal, but gives most of the power to the Primogen Council.

• 2000, February -Tiberius retains his position as Ventrue Senate President but leaves his right hand, Lord Tarrence Kent (AKA: Tarrence Covington, Duke of Kent) to run the Clan when he's busy. Justicar Sejanus decides to send his top Archon, Gillian Carmell of clan Tremere, to DC to replace Archon Earp, who goes to help him in the war to retake NYC from the Sabbat.

• 2000, March - Robert Lincolan, a Republican Senator and believed to be Garou, gains popularity as he runs for President, seeming to threaten all Kindred.

• 2000, April - Dr. Harleen Quinlan, of Clan Malkavian, is abducted by a Wraith known as the Knight Errant. It's later discovered that she was the Prince's girlfriend.

• 2000, July - Clan Tremere declares "blood war" on the Trinitarian bloodline, and slays the Trinity Representative in DC. Prince Romano and the Camarilla Archons turn a "blind eye" to this massacre.

• 2000, September - Prince's girlfriend is "rescued" by the Garou, Cameron on same night that Lincoln is assassinated by Kindred of DC.

• 2000, October - Tiberius declares his only known surviving Childe, Drusilla, as the new Ventrue Justicar. Justicar Drusilla's first act is to head a Tribunal of three Justicars to assess Prince Romano's guilt over his involvement of Lincoln's assassination. Clan Ventrue claims to have been cultivating Lincoln, and Romano's interference a violation of Camarilla law that no Kindred can directly interfere with the President of the United States.

• 2000, December - At the last minute, Jusicar Drusilla is called to Berlin to help cover up a terrible Masaquerade breach make by a Toreador Anarch, Zaza Polenski. Toreador Justicar Madame Guille is sent in her place to head the Tribunal (the other two Justicars are Sejanus of Clan Cappadocian and Don Cruez of Clan Brujah). The trial ends with a two to one vote against Prince Romano, and Justicar Guille sentances him to death. However, Romano slays Guille's executioner (who was a Royal Archon), and flees... is placed on the Red List by Justicar Guille. In DC, a number of Kindred claim to have witnessed the fall of an Angel... most believe it is a hoax.

• 2001, January - Justicar Guille proclaims her right as head of the Tribunal to declare DC's next Prince. She names Alec deWinter, of Clan Toreador, the new Prince of DC. Prince deWinter keeps Silas of Kells as his Seneschal, but he elevates his personal Harpies over the Primogen Council, causing a ripple amongst the other Camarilla cities in the area. Darrien Tilton returns to DC after being away for over a decade, and takes Bolton's old place as CEO of MVI. Arianarra appears at the gathering, and claims to be a "Malevente"...or "Fallen Angel"...on a quest to redeem herself by slaying those that slew her "charge", Robert Lincoln. She is watched carefully by the new Prince and his council. The Gangrel slay Brujah Primogen, Elliot Walker, for gaining knowledge of their secret discipline, Protean. This act is neither punished by the Prince, nor avenged by Clan Brujah.

• 2001, January - Tiberius sends Tarrence Kent's oldest Childe, Lady Elizabeth Covington, to DC to aid in the Ventrue "regrowth" in DC. Prince deWinter eliminates Romano's "Enforcers" and names Winston Scott of Clan Cappadocian his new "Sheriff", then names others to be "Deputies" to enforce his laws. He claims the right of destruction only to himself, making him the first Prince of DC to deny that right to the visiting Camarilla Archon.

• 2001, March - At the Kindred gathering, it is apparrent that a Malkavian Methusulah named Marius had a Tarot Card reading 2000 years ago and witnessed a "Prophecy" that would tell who the major force of power would be in this area of the world for some time to come...perhaps shaping the future of the Kindred of the Eastern United States. Four other cards had appeared at previous gatherings, but with two more appearing, the "Tarot Reading" was becoming more clear. To this date, the cards that had appeared were: The Devil, The Moon, The Hermit, The Emperor, The Empress, The Lovers... it all seemed to be leading to a great Jyhad between three major forces that wanted control of the Eastern US.... Cappadocian Justicar Sejanus who had never stopped calling DC "his"... Brujah Justicar Don Cruez who used to control the area and had it "stolen" from him by Sejanus... and Ventrue Inner Council member Tiberius Caesar, who wanted that area back in Ventrue hands. During the gathering the five million that had been raised to help in the Camarilla/Sabbat war is found missing. Prince deWinter blames his Seneschal, Silas, and removes him from that position in disgrace, making him the "scapegoat". deWinter names Elizabeth Covington his new Seneschal.

• 2001, April - During the Harpy Council meeting the two warring Garou...Cameron and Garm's Fury, burst in to hold a battle with Gangrel Primogen Kitty Rose in the center (who was reputed to be Cameron's lover). Both Cameron and Fury die in the battle, as well as Gangrel elder Captain Reade. Prince deWinter throws Kitty Rose off the Primogen Council for bring the Garou war to a head. Later this month, a battle is waged against the Garou and their Caern at the Jefferson Memorial is bombarded with Nerve Toxin, slaying most of the Garou and leaving the survivors (now lead by a Wendigo named Dances on Moonlight) to flee into the black hills of Maryland. During the meeting it is also discovered that Nosferatu Primogen, Jack Van Toren is Sabbat, as is a member of Clan Ventrue, making all the clans start to look deeper at their members, wondering who is Camarilla and who is Sabbat. Archon Gillian Carmel is not in DC during much of this because she is with her Justicar, Sejanus, in what has become a year long battle for New York City between the Camarilla and the Sabbat. Once totally Sabbat held, the city is now in a stalemate as both sides war to gain the upper hand. Meanwhile, finding Sabbat in DC is hard because they seem to be fitted with a Phosphorous detonation device that removes all remains and means to use their blood to trace to other Sabbat.... this string of events coins the phrase "Sabbat go boom".

• 2001, June - During a celebration at the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel, celebrating the fashion show of Hope of Clan Brujah, two more "Sabbat Explosions" occur...both in Clan Brujah... Hope, and her Primogen, Rebecca Earp (who was the mortal descendant of Ventrue Archon Wyatt Earp). The evening is further disrupted by the assassination of the Prince's Sherrif, Winston Scott (who was the Childe of ex-Seneschal Silas), and the unwarranted murder of one of the Prince's Harpies...The Count, who was slain by her own clan. To top it all off, in an argument between Ventrue eders Elizabeth Covington and Darrien Tilton, Covington tells Tilton that his mentor, Justicar Sejanus, is not only suspected of Sabbat sympathies...but of actually helping form the Sabbat along with the infamous Lasombra known only as Obsidian (who is the current Sabbat Cardinal of the Eastern United States). She goes on to say that both the Tremere and Ventrue Inner Counselors believe this warrants investigation, and are sending three Justicars to question Justicar Sejanus... Ventrue Justicar Drusilla, Tremere Justicar Uleg, and Gangrel Justicar Faol... they are supposed to meet with Sejanus within the next month or so. Two more cards in "Marius' Prophecy" appear...this time it's the Hanged Man and Death... leaving only two cards remaining. There is also a growing rumor that many of the Kindred in DC are unsatisfied with Prince deWinter's rule and that a plot (or plots) has been formed to bring about his final death...some suspect that Sherrif Winston Scott was one of those conspiring to slay deWinter and that was why he was killed. This gathering also sees the first real return of Setites to DC in over a year.

• 2001, July - Tremere High Regent Ivan Tatanovitch moves his Chantry from Atlantic City to DC following the "dissapearance" of DC Tremere Regent Nightwing (who is the childe of Archon Gillian Carmel). Meanwhile, back in Atlantic City, Justicars Drusilla and Faol await the arrival of Justicar Uleg so that the three of them can face Justicar Sejanus together.
• 2001, September - It is revealed that Sejanus has turned to the Sabbat and betrayed the Camarilla. He took over New York and shifted power in the MidAtlantic to the Sabbat. Elizabeth Covington took over DC when Prince deWinter was revealed to have breached the masquerade when Romano was accused. Justicar Drusilla of Clan Ventrue takes over what few Camarilla strongholds are left in the Eastern United States. Prince Covington names Tremere High Regent Ivan Tatanovitch her Seneschal and Justicar Drusilla places a gangrel archon, Julie Meadows, in DC to help out there.
• 2001, November - The Prince's Scourge, Hunter, was revealed to be an Infernalist, but in this discovery the Kindred of DC finally overcame the demon known as Batael and destroyed his mortal form, forcing him back to the deep Umbra. Baltimore and Atlantic City fell to the Sabbat, leaving DC as the only Camarilla city in the area.
• 2001, December - Archbishop Sejanus of New York and Archbishop Laurie Craven of Richmond both send full scale invasion forces to DC, in a contest to see who will take the city first. Prince Covington has no choice but to order the evacuation of DC....
