Now we stand on this brink of time
To whom and what we will ask why
Why times changes the hearts of mortal men
How things fall into space when they were together again
We all stand here, seconds slipping by;
Has destiny chosen us to smile instead of cry?
This year has ended, its grim gates close
And in front of all, mists of rose
Are raising to greet the star-stricken all
As they gaze down the deep dark hall
Friends and foes with whom we've clashed
Neutrals from some other class
The tall, the short, the skinny and oblong
We all consider our rights and wrongs
Can we mend those patches that were frayed
And untie the knot of things cliched?
May we be as able to differentiate
As well as the others who passed this gate?
Will our pillars of greatness begin to crumble?
Will our shadows begin to grow humble,
Not knowing who they really are
Like aliens from another star?
Don't look back, don't fall ennui
I say to every girl and boy
The Doors of Time are standing tall
Walk slow but quick; you either fly or crawl.
Remember the challenges, the fun, and the strife
As you emerge in your next stage of life.
Now we cross the brink of time
And as you look back in your mind
Forgive all sins, but never forget
That you still have much to learn yet.
