It’s a great verse and a great thought from that verse in James 2:19. What are the demons in your past, your life? Are you still plagued by the sins of your past, weighed down by your failures and shortcomings? This verse can be at the heart of your redemption. Look at what it says in multiverse translations; the demons (I should point out this is all inclusive) will shudder in horror, and tremble in terror.

I know some of the demons that are out there, some of them are knee weakening, spirit deflating and debilitating. I love what may be a qualifier for this verse. In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians fourth chapter verses eight and nine,” We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

Curiously as I am writing this Skillet’s song MONSTER is playing. Curiously its lyrics help me mold and define the demons in life, the way we are affected by them. “It's scratching on the walls, in the closet, in the halls, It comes awake and I can't control it, Hiding under the bed, in my body, in my head Why won't somebody come and save me from this, make it end?

It's hiding in the dark, it's teeth are razor sharp, There's no escape for me, it wants my soul, it wants my heart, No one can hear me scream, maybe it's just a dream, Maybe it's inside of me, stop this monster.” These lyrics give credence to the way these demons may affect us. I do not care what we call them, loneliness, brokenness, frustration, obsession, fear, anger or disassociation.

All these representations and manifestations are powerless when we have Jesus Christ in our lives. The things that pull us to pieces shudder in horror and tremble in terror at the presence of Jesus Christ. His promises tell us His plan for us is good, that we are never placed in a situation which we don’t have the resources to overcome, and that He will never leave us, with some scripture saying further still, that He will never leave or forsake us.

This is the type of protection plan we receive as followers in faith. Verses from different authors, times, and places all coming together to bring us peace, and safety now and forever……
