“You came to me with your scars on your wrists’, is a dramatic first line for a song. It also is the dramatic beginning many people use in their walk with Christ. Perhaps the scars aren’t as noticeable so as to be obvious. Scars can be subtle and detecting them may take careful and concerned observations.

it is significantly easier to tend to the obvious scars, the ones you can see, but caring for the hidden ones takes more skill. The scars of pain, can be emotional, physical, or spiritual and only the afflicted can determine its severity or seek the treatment. In the Skillet song, The Last Night, they provide insight for treating spiritual pain. It can be the last night for your spiritual pain, if you surrender yourself to Jesus.

Remember that we can’t hide the hurt of spiritual pain from Jesus. He is totally understanding of all our concerns and heartaches. He detects our disappointments and frustrations even before we can determine them. We concoct all sorts of schemes and plans to hide our self from exposure. We build walls and use ruses to confuse and confound those around us. Partially our energies are spent in making others feel better often finding it a distraction from dealing with our own pains.

There is total and complete relief to be had immediately through Jesus. Even though we try to hide our tears from His face, He knows our pain and still we don’t want Him to see us cry, offering we are fine. We may be able to fool co workers, family and friends but we cannot fool Jesus.

When we come to Jesus, He offers that we have felt the pain for the last night. He wants us to look into His eye so that He knows. We do that pursuing Him through reading the Bible and meditating over His word. If we are faithful to do that, Christ is faithful to ease that pain to a manageable level. We sometimes see ourselves as victims of faith rather then rejoicing our achievements because of faith. All of that stops when tonight becomes the last night we will allow that intrusion on our hearts.

In the altro John Cooper sings that God won’t let you say goodbye and He will be the reason why all our pains and worries can be left behind, at the foot of His cross for the last time.
