WFAQs

Here is a collection of Q&A's I've received via email over the past months since my website has been set up. I've answered these questions to the best of my ability, and I hope to put to rest any burning questions that keep you up in the middle of the night!

Q: Is Paige Dylan in "Grace of My Heart", or is that just a rumor? What about Alicia Jaffee?
A: Yes, those are Paige Dylan and Alicia Jaffee in the movie "Grace of My Heart" as you will see when you read the credits at the end.

Q: What is the name of Jakob and Paige's second child?
A: I heard that his second son's name is James, but I haven't heard this from a primary or secondary source, so I'm really not sure.

Q: Isn't there a song David Bowie did called "Ashes to Ashes"? Is it anything like The Wallflowers' version?
A: Yes, Bowie did perform a song entitled "Ashes to Ashes"; however, it is nothing like the version we all know. They are two totally different songs but equally good!

Q: How many music videos have the Wallflowers put out in their career?
A: To the extent of my knowledge, the Wallflowers have released 7 videos: "Ashes to Ashes", "Be Your Own Girl" (I do not know of anyone, though, who has it taped or has seen it), "6th Avenue Heartache", "One Headlight", "The Difference", "Three Marlenas", and "Heroes".

Q: Where are the ex-Wallflowers now?
A: Tobi Miller now produces Maypole, openers for the Wallflowers in recent concerts; Peter Yanowitz plays drums in Nathalie Merchant's band; Barrie Maguire plays bass guitar and 12-string electric guitar for Natalie Merchant. (Thanks Kelly!) Also, Matt Chamberlain (who appears on BDTH) currently plays with Tori Amos' band. (Thanks Lauren!)

Q: Was Jakob born in 1969 or 1970? In LA or NY?
A: Jakob Abraham Dylan was born December 8, 1969 in Woodstock, New York.

Q: I heard Jakob Dylan and Sheryl Crow had an affair, and it's what "My Favorite Mistake" is about. Is this true?
A: This is another rumor. Actually, Crow's "My Favorite Mistake" is supposedly about classic/ blues rocker Eric Clapton, whom she had a relationship with a couple years ago. The Wallflowers opened for Crow on her past tour, which is probably where this rumor sprouted from.

Q: When will The Wallflowers be touring again?
A: Although no dates have been released officially, they will probably do some concerts here and there, as they have been doing throughout this past summer. Once they release an album, though, they will most likely start a major tour.

Q: Exactly when was it that the Wallies first appeared on Letterman?

A: The first time they appeared on the David Letterman Show was in 1993, and they played "Ashes to Ashes". They've played two other times as well: "6th Avenue Heartache" in 1996, and "Three Marlenas" in 1997.

Q: Where did "Bringing Down the Horse" come from? It's so random!
Actually it's really not random. In Rolling Stone, Jake said "That's what it felt like for three years trying to make this damned thing. It was like trying to pull down a horse."

Q: How did the Wallflowers come up with their name?
Originally called The Apples, a photographer remarked that they stood around like "wallflowers"...and the name stuck!

Q: How did Mario join the group?
I don't know too much, but I do know that Jake first saw him at a place called the Mint. Hope that helps!

Q: Why is Jakob called Captain Midnight? Is their some sort of story behind it?
I remember reading an article where that was mentioned. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the fact that he has a hard time sleeping (insomnia), so he's up all night.
