A GREAT "NJ Skylands" ROAD TRIP

NJ STATE HIGHWAYS #15 and #206... "north of Ross's Corner!"

This fun filled adventure can be a nice ride in the country can take 2 hours or take a weekend!
FIRST, get on route Interstate #80, Take exit Route #15 North in Wharton, Great views, take it slow an enjoy...there are usually ALOT of speed traps!. especially heading through Sparta.Loads of roadside stands but wait, the best prices are north on #206.

  • Ross's Corner...Rt 206 North to Branchville.
    Skyland's Stadium Home of the NJ Cardinals...Beautiful pro baseball stadium. Gas....Diner.

  • New JerseY State Fair Grounds.Right off of #206.Home of NJ State Fair and many other events including the Peter's Valley Craft Show a must do..

  • Five Star Diner...."old school" breakfast...place looks like a movie set from the 50's...
    service is sometimes a bit iffy.(no link saugage)


  • Dale's Market...stop for bread, milk, deli stuff, snacks and trail mix and everything else you forgot to buy, bout' a half mile north of Bud's.They got the BEST fried chicken!

  • SUNRISE MOUTAIN OVERLOOK...just north of Culvers Lk...Make a right at Sunrise Mtn. Road sign. The ride can be breathtaking..just look for the signs on your right. At the parking area make a right on the white blaze and head to The pavilion on the Appalachian Trail.Great place to share the view sensation.Meet hikers "walking" to Maine or headin' south to Georgia! The access road is closed in the winter, but you can crosscountry ski it, hike it, or even dogsled it!
  • GYP'S Tavern...BOB has the "best" lake view (Kittantiny Lk.)in the county...fish for pickerel out back on the deck or shoot some pool,pitch horseshoes, have an ice cold beer! An outdoorsmen hangout and the word on the fish and game in the area(women are treated like royalty)...and of course if Bobby's there tell him Teech's web site brought you to a place that feels like Sussex County! Who know's what it will get U!?

  • STOKES STATE FOREST...This park has it all...camping,fishing,cabins,trails

  • LAYTON HOTEL..Make a left at the sign for "Dingmans Ferry". The quaint building is a place local and "down-below'ers" hang out. The place has it's own trout stream next to his place...PETER'S VALLEY artistan community is just down the road.Very nice gallery.
  • The Walpack Inn on weekends.No better place to spend New Year's!
    Great views of the Walpack Valley with deer feeding (they feed em')Real good food...the prime rib is excellent.

  • TILLMANS RAVINE...1/2 a mile past Gyp's on the left,make a left,go past the Boy Scout Camp for about 2 miles, make a right at the T and parkinglot is on your left...please stay on paths...then get ready to hike through a Canadian Forest in NJ! You have found a treasure!

  • FLATBROOK TAP HOUSE on RT.206 in Hainesville...GOTTA get a "REGULAR CALZONE deep fried!!!! don't forget to mention Excellent New Jersey!
