Welcome back! I'd like to take you back in time to Scott and Betty's first date, the day Scott had kind of tricked Betty into a date. He was the happiest person on Earth.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott rang for her downstairs at the Barbican Hotel. He was right on time. She walked down the stairs, looking more beautiful than ever before.
"You look beautiful," said Scott.
"Why, thank you. You don’t look that bad yourself."
"Shall we go?" asked Scott, taking her arm.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Betty and Scott walked out of the movie theater.
"Well, wasn’t Tyrone Power great, and Linda Darnell beautiful?" asked Betty.
"She’s a dog compared to you," said Scott, smiling.
"Scott, stop it. I’m not that beautiful."
"Yes you are, and I’m going to show you off with an ice cream soda."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Betty and Scott were sitting at a booth at a drugstore. They were talking and joking about the weird things that always happen to them at the station.
"The look on your face when you were getting married to Mackie..." said Scott at the memory.
"Don’t even dare go there or the rest of that ice cream will be in your face. That was all your fault," said Betty with a smile.
"You wouldn’t dare, would you?"
"Try me!"
"Let’s see. How about that kiss on the cheek during the quarantine? You have a big crush on me, don’t you?"
"Don’t you wish!" She stood up and took up a handful of ice cream and gently rubbed it in his face.
"Yum....good. You should try it." Scott leaned over and rubbed some in her face. The war kept on going until they stopped and looked at themselves and laughed. They weren't the only ones laughing. The soda jerk laughed through the whole thing.
They really must be in love, he thought. "If you want to clean up there's a bathroom around the corner."
"Thanks. We’ll clean up the table off and floor when we're done," said Betty, dripping ice cream all over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As they walked back to Betty’s apartment they were silent. They spent hours cleaning up the place and it was three in the morning.
Scott walked Betty up to the door and they started to laugh. "Thanks, Betty, it’s been fun," said Scott.
"My pleasure," said Betty.
"How about trying this again on Saturday?" asked Scott.
"I would love to. Just as long as I don’t have to spill ice cream all over me again, or do I need to find an ice cream-proof dress?"
"It's a deal."
"Good night, Scott. See you in a couple of hours."
"I’m the manager. I don’t have to show up on time," said Scott jokingly.
"Don’t you dare try it, or I’ll fire you again, cheif."
"Good night, Betty."
Betty leaned over, gave him a hug, and ran inside. Scott watched her go in and then left. Betty waved from the window to him and he waved back.
