Raw and Nitro Ratings

For the 38th consecutive week, WWF Raw Is War won the Monday Night Ratings War. On Monday, August 2, 1999, WWF Raw Is War drew a 5.9 rating with a 9.4 share based on a 5.8 for Raw and a 5.9 for the Warzone for a show taped from the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH. The rating is down considerably from last week's 7.1 composite, but the ratings for both shows are down this week. The Raw Is War rating is also a decline in the program's five-week ratings average, which was a 6.4 going into this week. The quarter hour breakdown for Raw Is War went 4.9, 5.7, 6.4, 6.3, 6.7, 5.6, 5.3, 6.0, and 6.2 for the overrun featuring a wild brawl between all of the top WWF superstars. All numbers have been rounded to the nearest tenth.

WCW Monday Nitro emanated live from the sold out Sioux Falls Arena in Sioux Falls, SD on Monday night, August 2, 1999. Nitro drew a dismal 3.1 composite rating based on a 3.6 for hour one, a horrid 2.4 for hour two, and a 3.2 for hour three. This week's rating is a decline in Nitro's five-week ratings average, which was a 3.4 going into last night. The quarter hour breakdown for Nitro went 3.3, 3.3, 3.5, 4.1, 2.6, 2.1, 2.2, 2.6, 2.6, 3.4, 3.4, 2.9, and 4.0 for the overrun featuring the end of Sting/Goldberg vs. Sid/Steiner. All numbers have been rounded to the nearest tenth.

In the head-to-head hours from 9:00pm - 11:05pm ET, WWF Raw Is War defeated WCW Monday Nitro by more than three full ratings points. WWF Raw Is War drew a 5.85 rating while WCW only managed a 2.80 rating. Ouch!

WWF Sunday Night Heat on Sunday, August 1, 1999, also taped from the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH, drew a 4.1 composite rating with an 8.0 share. The rating is the same as last week's number. Heat also helped other USA Network programming as G vs. E, Pacific Blue (guest starring Shawn Michaels), and La Femme Nikita all drew 2.2 ratings following Heat on Sunday night.

In other weekend ratings, WWF Livewire on Saturday morning, July 31, 1999 drew a 1.9 rating with a 6.4 share. WWF Superstars on Sunday morning, August 1, 1999 drew a 1.7 rating with a 5.4 share. The rating for WCW Saturday Night on Saturday, July 31, 1999 is currently unavailable. In case you missed it, WCW Thunder on Thursday, July 29, 1999, taped from Moline, IL, drew a 2.8 composite with a 5.1 share based on a 2.5 for hour one and a 3.1 for hour two.
