Niniane's Place in Arthur Rex by Thomas Berger Niniane in Arthur Rex by Thomas Berger
In Arthur Rex Niniane goes by the Lady of the Lake
This story has basically the same plot as Malory's classic Le Morte de Arthur. However, the Lady gets off being nearly a goddess in this one, and, rather than lock Merlin up, the aggravating creature is left in his own cave where he stays happily of his own free will. Berger has a fairly strong sense of humor and is not particuarly nice to the majority of the characters.
