Dawn was about to break. As the sky gradually became brighter, the outline of the tower came into view. Birds began to sing as if released from prison and the figures of the demons faded and vanished like the tide withdrawing from the beech. Arick was feeling a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment as the result of a job well done. In the peaceful dawn he began reflecting on the long history of Ys. All the things written in the Books of Ys began to float before his mind's eye and soon the images of the goddesses appeared too. The faces were shadowy, but Arick had a feeling that he knew two of them well. As he looked out over the hushed land, he saw Mara's house quietly standing there. Fiina's memory had probably returned, he thought. If he ever returned to this place he would tell her what he could. Then, suddenly, from out of nowhere came a dazzling light that enveloped Arick. He felt as if he were being blessed for his heroic efforts and at the same time a dawn rose on his new adventures. In a flash Arick knew that this was his fate and he set forth boldly, planning to make the most of it all.
