Hey, a good author. Cool...this one did not let me down. Merlin gets to be an humanoid of some sort in this one, probably thanks to Andre Norton's love of science fiction, and Nimue/Niniane is one of his kind, so he naturally feels attracted to her, although he knows that he should not as she is a dangerous woman/girl.  It's actually fairly neat since Merlin knows that Nimue will try to stop him in virtually everything that he does, and yet he still wants her.  And, even without that, anything with Nimue as a main character that's not terrible has to be worth something, no?
