THE SQUAD ROOM
New Jersey State Police Vehicles
New Jersey's State Police stands as a model for all others. It's had the likes of Gen. Normal Schwartzkopf in it's ranks and has used all sorts of vehicles. However, none have performed like the Caprice.
However, it's puzzling why a department with so much pomp and circumstance surrounding it would design it's vehicles with such poor quality. When one takes a look at the vehicles of other departments they can see the pride and detail put into the lettering and design of the vehicle's exterior. After all, the police vehicle, much like the officer, is one of the most up-front and in your face all the time advertisements (if you will) for the town, or state's police department. Why would New Jersey and it's first rate state police give it's cars such an old style lightbar? Obviously they use the kind that they do because it puts more light up front with it's two clear takedowns (and that can mean the difference between life and death on some of New Jersey's poorly lit highways, as most of them are). But to the rear of the vehicle, two dim and slowly revolving flashers are all that seperate this vehicle from all the other red tail lights on the road. Anyway, with that out of the way, here are New Jersey's poorly decorated police fleet.

Here's a '94 in front of the New Jersey State Acquarium in Camden. |
Notice how there's no scheme of design, this earlier model bears a car number and not the "emergency 9-1-1" sticker like the model on the left. |

Here's another earlier model in a rest stop which appears to be on the G.S. expressway. | Here's the Crown Vic that they were forced to switch to after Chevy stopped production. (I'm really not bitter or anything.) |

Look closely at this 85 Dodge and you'll see that not much has changed since then. |
I'm pretty sure they think that the mirror caps are the coolest thing since sliced bread, but the effectiveness of mirror caps is horrible due to their position on the car in realtion to a driver in front of the vehicle |

Hide-a-way strobes are also present on these vehicles. These strobes are drilled into the headlights and marker lights and do not interferre with the normal operation of the lights. |
Here's the technicial Services/Bomb Disposal Unit. |
