FEBRUARY 2000 NEWSLETTER VOL. X #2
Entertainment
this month features Glenn Terminelli |
Mid Winter greetings to all Phillipsburg Historians. As we shake the snow and ice off our boots, we turn to thoughts of Spring. Nevertheless, we are getting through it and, before you know it, we will be riding in the breeze of an open car on the Centerville & Southwestern. Anyway, the February meeting of PRRH will be held in our warm and new location, the ALPHA UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, on Wednesday February 23 at 7:30 PM, weather permitting. By the looks of last month's turnout, we are all finding the place quite well. Entertainment this month will be provided by Glenn Terminelli with video of winter steam powered freight on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad.
In club news this month, we are once again blessed by a grant from GPU ENERGY via their Cornerstone Grant program and we thank member Jim Kern for acting on our behalf. The enginehouse project remains in motion as terms for the additional cost are being approved and worked out. We may have some current update by the time of the meeting. We are working on plans for our very own fantrip to Baltimore and a member's picnic to be held later in the summer.
We regret to inform you of the passing of member Tony Gallagher's wife. Our thoughts are with you, Tony. Glad to see Ken Miller back on his feet at the January meeting.
Two dates to remember: Saturday February 19: Eastrail 2000 at Warren Hills Regional High School. Sunday March 5 Mother Seton Regional High School Train Show at Clark. We will have representation at both events and can use member support to help man the tables.
We wish to recognize Bill McKelvey who recently received a Special Recognition Award at the Thirteenth Annual Warren County Business Awards gathering.
A reminder to all to please pay your dues if you have not already done so. We need to correct and update our member mailing list and we will have it on the table at the meeting for you to come up and inspect it. If you cannot make the meeting, please look at your mailing label and see if it has any errors in it. We need to know. Have a good one and see you soon.
