NOVEMBER 2000 NEWSLETTER VOL. X #11

Entertainment this month features: Pete Blaess, Rick Glosser, and Glenn Terminelli.

GOOD DAY TO ALL PRRH members and their families. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, take a breather and consider a night out with your fellow members. Our monthly membership meeting will occur on Wednesday night November 15, 2000 at 7:30pm at the Alpha United Presbyterian Church. PLEASE NOTE THE DATE IS A WEEK EARLIER due to the holiday. This will also occur during December.

September volunteer report by Ed Beers.

Twenty three members combined for a total of 343 man hours. These were for C&S trackwork, full size trackwork, caboose restoration, groundskeeping at site and firehouse, firehouse repairs, and manning the museum on Sundays. Hours were also used for the September 30 open house. Those hours were consumed with selling coffee and donuts and running and supervising the Centerville & Southwestern. Non PRRH members contributed 40 hours to full size trackwork and wire and hardware stripping. Total man hours for September 2000 was 383.

Note: Earl Brotzman was credited 19 hours for his efforts at the Milford show where he represented PRRH. Also starting this month, I have credited people for "behind the scenes" work including writing, printing, and mailing the newsletter. Also, I have credited Paul and Pete time for their efforts to work over the phone with various people.

Nominations will continue at the November meeting for the slate of officers that will start their terms for PRRH in January. This will be the final opportunity for members to cast their names or nominate another individual. If voting is necessary, it will take place at the December meeting.

In local happenings, the enginehouse has been approved and accepted by your officers and the few minor glitches have been remedied. Grading has commenced in the building and the north track will begin to take shape as Saturday work parties continue by the North Jersey Electric Railroaders. PRRH members are welcome to stop by the site on Saturdays and lend a hand. Remember that this is your enginehouse. Restoration work on the CNJ caboose continues on Thursday afternoons and will be extended until the weather puts the brakes on.

We are beginning a project to clean up and organize the firehouse. If any members have personal items left there, would you please contact one of the officers and advise us of that fact. We need all personal items to be removed so we can take some type of inventory and assess our future needs there. We would like to accomplish this by December 1. The large front door is being cleaned and scraped for painting.

PRRH welcomes Ray Griffith, our newest member. While we are on the subject of members, your year 2001 dues can be paid at any time.

Entertainment this month will be provided by Pete Blaess, Rick Glosser, and Glenn Terminelli; a combined video effort on the railroad air brake, and the movement of the ARHS CNJ boxcar to our site.

It would be very supportive to your club if you could try and sell our ornaments. Show one to a friend or neighbor and get them to hang one from their tree.

See you all soon at the meeting.
