DECEMBER 2000 NEWSLETTER VOL. X #12
Entertainment
this month features: Paul Carpenito on |
Your Directors would like to extend to each member and their family best wishes for a happy holiday season and good fortune for the years ahead. As a member of PRRH, you have joined a winning team and our future endeavors will be filled with the same excitement and enthusiasm weexperience when we get together as a family unit during the holidays. Come and join your club family for the monthly membership meeting to be held on Wednesday night December 20, 2000 at 7:30pm at the Alpha United Presbyterian Church. Slide entertainment will be provided by Paul Carpenito with subjects ranging from a look at the worst track you've ever seen to a snowy lookat railroading in the winter. Classic Cabs part two will take you back in time to when the EMD bulldog nose was a household word. Refreshments will be provided under the always excellent care of Ed Meyers.
Your new slate of officers for the year 2001 are as follows:
Paul
Carpenito-President
Jim Mack-Vice President
Matt Winter-Secretary
Meg Carpenito--Treasurer
Ed Beers-Director 1 year term
Ed Meyers--Director 2 year term
Bill Pensyl-Director 2 year term
Congratulations to the officers and much support to them as they listen to the membership and help shape PRRH to a promising future.
A Rolling Stock Committee has been formed to accept input for our future acquisitions. The four members currently joining forces include Jim Mack, John Bonner, Matt Winter, and Earl Brotzman. They will provide feedback to us as our future plans continue to gel.
A comprehensive Firehouse cleaning will begin in early January. All members should already have made arrangements with Jim Stetler to remove personal property by now.
VOLUNTEER REPORT by Ed Beers:
In October, 17 PRRH members contributed 130 man hours. These were used for the enginehouse, inspection of same, various clerical work, firehouse work, C&S and full size track material movement. Jim Mack also manned the museum building on its last open day of the year. Bob Hooper of NJER worked 5 hours on full size trackwork. Total hours for October were 135. Please remember, even though we are not actively working on Tuesday nights, sign in and include your hours for work done at the site or firehouse any time you are there. From November to March, I will only be doing bi-monthly reports.
Finally, trackwork is in progress at the east end of the enginehouse and inside the building on the north track. The NJER men and Glenn Terminelli are working on this project until weather shuts them down. John Bonner is still seeking help in restoring and protecting our precious equipment from winter's elements. John is leading the Thursday afternoon work party and can use help in his efforts to accomplish this task. We hope to see you at the meeting, but if you can't make it, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
