MARCH 2002 NEWSLETTER VOL. XII #3
Entertainment this month features:
local steam from the past by Norm Cole. |
The volunteers of PRRH are poised and ready for another successful year of construction, hoping to emulate the progress made last year to make our museum the best and most progressive operation in the area. The winter was very kind to us, allowing several work parties that would otherwise have been out of the question under normal weather conditions. Our work force, with the heavy assistance of the North Jersey Electric Railroaders, retrieved 33 sections of rail from the north side property and positioned them for use in the resumption of track construction set to start soon. With heavy truck assistance from Glenn Terminelli and his adeptness in operating the forklift, we were successful in accomplishing this task on Sunday March 10. Those assisting in the effort were Jim Tomczyk, Rob Hooper, Bob Hooper, Mark Donohue, and Bill McKelvey from NJER. Rich Frantz of LV Chapter NRHS also assisted. PRRH volunteers included Bud Sauselein, Bill Pensyl, Ed Beers, Paul Carpenito, John Boner, Lou Badolato, and Jim Mack. The Tuesday work sessions will begin on March 19 to resume track construction and a new work party to begin the remodeling of the museum building will commence on Thursday March 21. This party will concern its efforts with clearing out the storage area in the rear in order to increase the capacity of the display area. The culmination of this project will be the physical remodeling of the building.
PRRH was represented at the Mother Seton Train Show in Clark with a progressive display of our theme here at Phillipsburg. Our newsletter were given out and questions answered by members Ed Beers and Rick Glosser who gave up the day to represent us.
The monthly membership meeting of PRRH will be held on Wednesday night March 27 at 7:30pm at the Alpha United Presbyterian Church. The refreshments are being provided by Tom Marzuoli and Tony Gallagher. Our feature entertainment will be a video treat of local steam from the past brought to us by Norm Cole.
We will be renewing our lease on a portable toilet and sink facility, which will be delivered around mid April.
Dates to remember include EASTRAIL on March 23 and SYMPOSIUM on April 6. Details of these events were published in last month's newsletter.
