FEBRUARY MEETING RECAP
IR BOXCAB: Our contact in Billings, Montana, has provided us with the name of a company out there that can load and move the locomotive for a price not to exceed $8500.00. Our biggest problem is time to coordinate the move. We had a deadline of April 1st but we had that extended to May 1st. Pete Terp, Jay Miers and Pete Delikat met with officials of Ingersoll-Rand in an effort to solicit their help. So far we've heard nothing. At this writing, it doesn't look good, it's just too far away and we have to deal with people we don't know, who may or may not understand our efforts to preserve this locomotive.
ROLLING STOCK: The CNJ caboose at Gilbert Generating Station is not yet ours, no decision was made at the last Jersey Central Historical Society meeting. The Swift mechanical refer is reported going to Bergen for storage use. The ex-CNJ RDC will also be staying at Gilbert. There was nothing happening with our equipment at the Brickyard last month.
MINATURE RR REPORT: Wayne Deshler has asked to step down as Superintendent of the C&S RR. Keith Muldowney has agreed to become Technical Director and Bob Kelly will become Phillipsburg Coordinator. Keith has drawn up a track plan, before we can begin work, we need town approval and good weather!
FIREHOUSE REPORT: Our lease will be expiring May 31st, we have asked for an additional five years. This was brought up at the last council meeting but no decision was reached. The building inspector checked out the firehouse, some minor things were found to need repair, he told us we can have up to thirty people occupying the second floor. We have learned of another property in the town which may suit our needs better, it is being looked into.
OLD BUSINESS: Pennsylvania RR "Doodlebug" #4666 has been sold! One of our members, Carl Hosler, also a volunteer on the BR&W is the new owner. The car will be staying in Ringoes for at least the next two years. Carl is asking for information and photographs of the car to aid in its restoration. If any of our members can provide same, see him at one of our meetings or call him, his number (908) 422-4759.
