MEETING

This month's meeting will be June 23rd at 7:30 P.M. in the Community Room of the Phillipsburg Town Hall. There will be entertainment and refreshments. I have been asked to also include the following months meeting date, which will be July 28th, for those of you making summer vacation plans. This month we will have copies of JERSEY CENTRAL LINES Vol. 2 for sale at $33 each. Those of you who signed up for a reserved copy last month, I will hold your books if you can not attend.

MAY MEETING RECAP

IR BOXCAB: After abandoning this project in late April, Jay Miers informed us that $10,000.00 dollars was earmarked for this project by the Warren County Economic Development Commission. Unfortunately it came too late to make a difference in our decision. Perhaps it could be used for other purposes!

ROLLING STOCK: Dave Griffith reported that Jersey Central Power & Light is expecting the arrival of a new turbine via rail, that being the case, the equipment stored there will either have to be switched of moved off the property. Nothing happening with our equipment stored in the brickyard. The cupola off flanger #105 is being repaired but is not yet ready to be placed back on the car.

MERRITT PROPERTY: SMP needs approval to operate a trucking company on the premises then the property should sell!

MINATURE RR REPORT: Track plan for park has finally been approved, meeting with the towns Recreation Committee net in order. Norman Cole has finished painting the box car he has in LVRR green, it will be lettered by a professional in Washington, N.J. We still have to go to Monmouth County to move the remaining equipment.

FIREHOUSE REPORT: The lease on the firehouse has been extended to 12/31/93, we are still asking for five years. We are also getting estimates on replacing the roof.

OTHER NEWS: Carl Loeser is our new delegate for United Railroad Historical Society. We got paving bricks off the BLACK BRIDGE, six truck loads! Meeting up coming with the Morris County Central RR museum and our possible merger to acquire their federal tax exempt status.
