 PHILLIPSBURG RAILROAD HISTORIANS NEWSLETTER
JULY 1993

MEETING

This month's meeting will be July 28th at 7:30 P.M. in the Community Room of the Phillipsburg Town Hall. This month's entertainment will be presented by Dave Griffith's brother, Ed. It will be a slide presentation covering the Jersey Central, Reading and Erie! I'm told if it's anything like the B&O show he once presented at the Jersey Central Railway Historical Society meeting, it should be great, so try to attend! Last month I mentioned we had copies of JERSEY CENTRAL LINES Vol. 2, we sold them out so if anyone still wants a copy, I will be taking orders. As per usual, refreshments will also be on hand, and the August meeting is set for the 25th if anyone needs to know.

JUNE MEETING RECAP

ROLLING STOCK: Bob Kelly, Keith Muldowney, Jim Stetler and Carl Loeser are working on the ex-CNJ RDC car at Milford. The CNJ caboose there is also being worked on. We need to cosmetically restore some of the equipment there to show JCP&L that this isn't scrap and is worth preserving.

MERRITT PROPERTY: A meeting was held with the mayor and Jay Miers of the county Economic Development Commission, about the only thing resolved was the fact that nothing is going to happen soon and that the fact that the bank holding the mortgage might get involved. For three years nothing has happened, we have to move ahead and seek an alternative site!

MINATURE RR REPORT: C&S track work on hold! Lots of work to do.... Member Jim Smith donated a roll-off load of pressure treated lumber, it needs to be unloaded, cleaned of nails, sorted and ripped into ties. We still have to go to Monmouth County to move the remaining equipment.

FIREHOUSE REPORT: We need a roof, we are getting estimates and they are HIGH! No decision made yet, stay tuned.....
