NOVEMBER 1998 NEWSLETTER VOL. VIII #11

This month's meeting will be held one week earlier than usual at 7:30 P.M. on November 18th at Phillipsburg Town Hall in the basement. Entertainment to be announced.

Due to the effort of 16 members we put together a great float for the Phillipsburg Halloween Parade on November 1st. We loaded C&S 1503, the Becker Dairy car and the caboose on the dropdeck trailer with operating crossbucks and a track signal. Bill McKelvey arranged for Bob Bahrs 1949 Chevy pickup done up as a Lackawanna M of W truck and the American Legion from Kearny with their 40-8 locomotive (which won a prize). Friends dressed in black jackets and hats distributed Museum Update Newsletters along the parade route. Weather was good and our float looked great, along with the sound of Glenn's Peep Whistle. Thanks to all that helped.

Retaining wall blocks are rolling in. As soon as we have enough for the bottom row, we will get started.

Ken Miller & Councilman Harry Wyant have our outside lights up and will finish wiring next good weather weekend.

Jim Anderson & John Drake are working on the furnace at the firehouse. They are installing a new firebox and burner. This should improve the efficiency and save on heating costs.

Work Parties will continue on Saturdays as needed with weather permitting. We have many small projects which can be done any time. Call Pete Terp for details at 908.213.1722.

The following Volunteers have contributed 233 hours during the last month, Jeff Amey, Jim Anderson, Ed Beers, Alan Bellis, Bob Bennington, Paul & Meg Carpenito, John Drake, Tony Gallagher, Rick Glosser, Ann Jennings, Jim Kern, Bob Kirkpatrick, Derek Long, Jim Mack, Bob Marinelli, Bill McKelvey, Ken Miller, Rocky Rockafellow, Glenn Terminelli, Pete Terp, Scott Terp, Matt Winter, Rebecca Winter, Steve Winter, Harry Wyant.

Treasurer's Report will be available at the members meeting.

December's meeting will also be one week earlier on the 16th. Happy Thanksgiving.
