APRIL 1999 NEWSLETTER VOL. IX #4

This month's meeting will be held as usual at 7:30 P.M. on April 28th at Phillipsburg Town Hall in the basement, weather permitting. Entertainment entitled "POTPOURRI" will be provided by Jim Anderson.

HAPPENINGS:
Bidding is proceeding on our engine house and the results will be announced when the dust settles.
The western-most section of C&S track has been temporarily lifted in anticipation of final backfilling of our new retaining wall.
A contractor hired by Conrail has been improving drainage at and adjacent to the museum site. Excavation in progress has left us a glut of dirt fill material which we will stockpile for use later.
Your Directors have met on site and have discussed at length an agenda of goals to be achieved during 1999.
1. Completion of the alley retaining wall.
2. Restoration and minor expansion of the Centerville & Southwestern mainline.
3. Construction of the C&S/full scale engine house.
4. Make both L&HR cabooses presentable and weathertite.
5. Cosmetically restore the flanger, CNJ caboose, GE center cab.
6. Construction of model layout in the museum building depicting the area we occupy and how PRRH projects it to look when completed.

WE NEED HELP DEPARTMENT:
A. C&S trackwork
B. Securing our full size equipment to the weather.
C. Construction of our model layout.
D. Interior help with the museum and firehouse buildings.
See the following coordinators to sign up for help: C&S - Alan Bellis, Full size - Bob Kirkpatrick, Museum - Jim Mack or Pete Terp, Firehouse - Jim Anderson.
I know you are proud of your club. You prove it by the fine attendance at our meetings. Please don't let all the work fall on the shoulders of the handful of dedicated volunteers that give so much of their time. A few hours will go a long way toward our cause. See one of the directors for work party days or take something home to work on.

If you have not paid your dues for 1999, please do so now. A red dot will appear on your mailing label if you fit this category. Dues are $25.00 per year.

DON'T FORGET: PRRH banquet Saturday April 24th at FLYNN'S Restaurant at 6:30 PM.
Layout tour April 25 & May 16. Let us know if you are interested. Call Pete at 908.213.1722. If you've given your name, you will be called.

There is no volunteer hour report this month, it will be in next months newsletter.

The Secretary's report will be available at the monthly meeting.

Work Parties will continue on Saturdays as needed with weather permitting. Call Pete Terp for details at 908.213.1722.

Please pay your 1999 dues if you have not yet done so.
