JULY 1999 NEWSLETTER VOL. IX #7
Hope all members of PRRH Inc. and your families are enjoying the good old summertime and staying cool.
This months meeting will be held as usual on July 28, 1999 at Phillipsburg Town Hall in the basement at 7:30 PM. Entertainment will be provided by Keith Muldowney on the Preamble Express on its 25th anniversary of the trip.
The following have contributed 284 volunteer hours this month: Ed Beers, Alan Bellis, Earl Brotzman, Rick Glosser, Bob Kirkpatrick, Jim Mack, Bob Marinelli, Bill Pensyl, Glenn Terminelli, Pete Terp, Matt and Steve Winter. Work party info call Pete Terp at 908.213.1722
PRRH would like to acknowledge John Welsh, a first time visitor to the museum site during Riverfest. Mr. Welsh had three original signs from the C&S that had been rescued at a rummage sale and he has kindly donated these pieces to the club.
Glenn Terminelli has picked up the remaining blocks to finish off the retaining wall, thus the backfilling project can commence.
WE still need volunteers for the work parties to complete the full scale track work extension in anticipation of the arrival of the boxcar and locomotive. I need to interject here that Pete and I have set down lists requesting help for various work parties with literally nobody signing them. I know that this summer has turned out to be a scorcher so far, but it is not our intention to kill you all at once. These little and big projects need to get done so we can hail them as progress. I know you are all proud of your club.
Speaking of proud, the state museum issue has been acted upon. A scaled down version to the tune of $367,000 has been approved for the master plan. Stay tuned for further details.
I would like to take a moment to acknowledge Rick Glosser for his tireless devotion to maintaining the museum grounds. The site always looks clean and groomed. One recent hot day Rick weed-wacked for twelve hours. This is truly devotion.
Thanks also need to go out to Alan Bellis, Glenn Terminelli, Pete Terp, Matt and Steve Winter for their ongoing devotion to keeping the C&S operating in the heat on Sundays. Recognition also goes to Pete Terp and Jim Mack for custody of the gift shop.
We are in need of an appliance hand truck for about a week so we can move some heavy items at the firehouse to the 2nd floor. Anyone wishing to loan this out for approximately 1 week contact Jim Settler at 610.252.5713.
The firehouse is being cleaned and organized, your help in keeping it organized is appreciated. If anyone has to store anything here, or if you're looking for something and can't find it please contact Jim Stetler. Remember please don't dump off anything without contacting Jim.
Remember that we accept aluminum cars and scrap, which we can turn into cash for the coffers.
Hope to see you at the meeting and perhaps at a work party.
