DECEMBER 1999 NEWSLETTER VOL. IX #12

It's hard to believe that the Holidays are already upon us. The time seems to pass so quickly that we can't seem to slow it down. Although everyone is probably buying gifts and wrapping presents, I would like to remind you of our monthly meeting since it sneaks up on us two weeks sooner than usual. December's meeting will be held - on Monday night --December 13 at 7:30p.m on the second floor of Phillipsburg Town Hall. Entertainment will be a blockbuster by noted rail photographer Dave Augsburger. You won't want to miss this one.

The slate of officers for the year 2000 was determined at the November meeting and next year's team is as follows:

PRESIDENT-Paul Carpenito (ran unopposed.)

VICE PRESIDENT-Jim Mack (ran unopposed.)

SECRETARY- presently not filled for 2000.

TREASURER- Meg Carpenito (ran unopposed.)

DIRECTORS (3)

Pete Terp- Serving second of two year term.

Ed Meyers-- Serving second of two year term.

Jim Anderson-Nominated and appointed to two year term.

Good luck to all the officers as they work to make PRRH better than ever.

I neglected to thank Herb Fischer for his immensely generous donation of $5,000.00 to further the preservation and restoration of our historically significant equipment. Tarps are being ordered to cover and protect our cabooses and flanger.

We also thank Baer Aggregates and Warren Lumber for their donations of stone and equipment with manpower to transport Lyood -used ties to the site.

I wish to note Tom Niarzuoli and Rick Glosser for tree and brush clearing. A heavy work party was held on two consecutive Saturdays attended by Bob Marinelli, Jim Anderson, Glenn Terminelli, Alan Bellis, Jim Kern, Bob Hooper, Tom Tomzak, Ed Beers, Pete Terp and Earl Brotzman. Thank you gentlemen for your time and heavy physical effort on our behalf.

At November's meeting, we got to meet Harry Wyant, our mayor-elect who spoke to us for a few minutes.

The enginehouse must be rebid due to the default of the previous sole bidder. We are attempting to get this project moving again. I will update you as things develop.

The officers of the Phillipsburg Railroad Historians would like to extend to all of you warmest wishes for a healthy and happy holiday season and good luck and prosperity in the up coming year. Remember too that prosperity is not solely measured in terms of material wealth, but more importantly in terms of family, friends, happiness and health!
