CARL PETERSEN PAASKE was born 1783 in København, Køb.Denmark and Baptised on 8 Oct. 1783 in Holmens Kirke (Church) a Seafarers Church. His parents were Skibsbygmester Peter Jacobsen Paaske(in 1804 Royal Inspecteur of the Navy and Docks) and Else Marie Sorensdatter. In the 1801 census of København, C.P.P, was listed as a Tømmermand (carpenter) in Holmen Naval Base.
During the "Nepoleanic Wars", Denmark/Norway was blockaded by England. On 20 Nov.1807 Carl P. Paaske arrived at Fredriksværn Naval Base in Norway. He married in 1811 to Anne Nørgaard b.1786 in Christiansand, Norway daughter of Bertil Nørgaard, Kjøbmand (Businessmann) and Stats Chapten of Christiansand, Norweay
After Norway was divided from Denmark in 1814, Carl P. Paaske was then assigned to be a member of a Royal Commisiom which had to find new Head quarters for the Norwegian Fleet in 1820.
In 1823, the Navy bought the Estate "APENES" in Horten which was to be the home for Skibsbygmesters over the years. The Estate is presently part of the Horten Naval Museum..
Twelve Ships were built there during Carl P. Paaske's tenure. Eg. The Brig Fredriksværn was Built in 1815 in Fredriksværn. The Frigate "FREIA" 1828 in Horten. The Korvet Ørnen in Horten 1829 & 1849 up to a Dampskib "Steamship" "GLER" in 1849............. Carl Petersen Paaske Died 13 Nov 1850 in Horten. The inscription on his Tomb stone reads " SKIBSBYGMESTER RIDDER CARL PETERSEN PAASKE"- He and his wife ANNE f. NORGAARD are buried in the same plot in Borre Church Yard..
