Silver was first discovered here in 1623 and in 1624 the town of Kongsberg was founded

CARL ANTON PAASKE was born 8 Nov.1827 in Horten Norway d.2 May 1911 in Christiania son of Skibsbygmester Carl Petersen Paaske and his wife Anne Nørgaard. On 28 Dec.1855, he married Caroline Louise Amelia Nielsen b.21 Jul, 1835 d. 6 Nov, 1912 daughter of Anne Johansdatter "Viker" (MOR SÆTHER) and Lars Nielsen..

Carl Anton Paaske took his mining exam at the University in 1850 and a "Stiger" at Kongsberg Silver Works> In 1855, He became "Over Stiger" with the same Silver works. In 1858 , he took a Stipend in Germany in mine work with Clausthal and Freiberg. In 1861 he went with the BÆrums Iron works . In 1869 , he became an Underdirector of Vignes Works in Karmøy and in 1872 was "Bergmester" with Kongsberg Silver Works and worked there until 1893 when he became "Bergmester" at "Vestra Søndenfjelde (Vestralandske) Bergdistrict (mining District?)

On 21 January 1904 Carl Anton Paaske was awarded the St. Olavs Orden, Ridder, Av 1st. Klasse for duties performed in his official position..

In 1908 C.A.Paaske retired at 81 years old and went to live in Kristiania (Oslo) Paaske was a tempermental man and full of ambition for work. He took part in many discussions and wrote several articles for papers and magazines.
