Turkish 1.League - Week 25 Review: We had another week with lots of goals. 33 goals in 9 games. Kocaelispor - Samsunspor This game had different meanings for Kocaeli and Samsun. Kocaeli had won the game in Samsun in the field, but had lost it at the table, because of fielding Orhan Ak in that game. The TFF decision was not taken lightly in Kocaeli and they had very bitter feeling about it. A win also would enlarge the gap between the relegation zone and they would feel safer. Samsunspor was trying to crack the top teams for an UEFA Cup entry. Kocaelispor won despite playing the last 40 minutes with 10 players, scoring with ten players and missing a few more. Gençlerbirliği - Erzurumspor Getting to the Turkish Cup final took all the energy, will, and the class away from Gençlerbirliği. They lost to Erzurumspor who had only two ties in 12 away games before. It would be very hard for them to recover before the Cup Final. Even the technical director wanted to resign after the game. Erzurumspor had sent all loaned players back during the week, changed their technical director and getting ready for the next season in the 2.league. This raised their hopes of surviving a little bit. However, they are still 10 points behind the team above. They have five home games left and two of them are with Gaziantepspor and Fenerbahçe. Antalyaspor - Ankaragücü The fight in the middle of the table. Ankaragücü had their scorer back from a long injury and he played a whole 90 minutes first time. Cafer Aydın proved that he is getting well, scoring 2 goals. Antalya lost 3-4 but the crowd had seen 7 goals in a game. It must be a thriller, especially when their team was coming back from 0-4. They must have wished another half hour for sure. İstanbulspor - Bursaspor Both teams were playing well recently. It could go either way and it did for Bursa. In their 4-2 win, Okan Yılmaz scored 2 goals and is now one goal behind Jardel at 19, who was believed to be uncatchable at one point. Bursa came back from 0-1 and 1-2 to win it 4-2. Rizespor - Fenerbahçe Fenerbahçe was not like the team of the recent weeks. They lost two important points, in a game they could have lost more. Rizespor was not the team playing against Beşiktaş either. They were afraid to go over ten man Fenerbahçe in the second half. Highest scoring Fenerbahçe was silent in the goal department. Thir goal came by an own goal by Rize's Oumar Dieng. The sleeper of the week ended in a 1-1 tie. Yozgatspor - Gaziantepspor Yozgatspor was going down in the standings week-by-week and they did it again this week. Only a tie at home put them to the border of relegation, 15th place. They are still 10 points better the relegation zone, however they have only four games left at home and one is with Galatasaray. Gaziantepspor is not giving up on a Champions League spot yet. They came back from a 0-1 deficit to win this game and keep up with Galatasaray. However with both Samsun and Tranzon loss es, they are going to finish in the top four for sure. Denizli - Adanaspor Denizli had finally won a game with the return of El-Saka and Hassan from WC2002 African qualifiers. But they did it in the second half after a 1-2 deficit. This may be the end of the road for Adanaspor. They are 11 points back from Yozgat and have only four home games left. They should start winning away games, but it looks like there are no time left. Two of their games at home are with Samsun and Trabzon and two of their away games are with fenerbahçe and Galatasaray. Siirt Jet-PA - Galatasaray After their Siirt's venue was closed for the 1.League team, the game was played in İzmir. They lost the very close game to Galatasaray, but made a lot of money. This was the highest figures in crowd this year. İstanbul papers gave the figure as 40,000, Yeni Asır from İzmir as 50,000, Lucescu thinks it was 60,000. The actual figure was 39,794. That figure does not include about 15,000 children who can watch the game without buying a ticket. The total ticket fare was a Turkish 1.league record 204.773 billion Turkish Lira. Was that a penalty for Siirt, or award in ticket fares? Although they play the best footbal of the relegation teams, they are heading back to 2.League after one year visit. Galatasaray was without Taffarel, Popescu, and penalized Hagi. They eventually won on Serkan's goal after he missed a penalty. It was a well fought game for them. Jardel looked too tired in this game and was replaced at half-time. Beşiktaş - Trabzonspor This was Daum's first game in İstanbul. The BJK crowd likes him and showed their support. Although the score was 3-1 for BJK, Trabzon was the better side especially in the second half. They didn't looked like the team who lost to Siirt with 4 goals at home. Is it because sergen and Oktay was not even brought to İstanbul? The team of the week: Bursaspor The worst team of the week: Gençlerbirliği - a shameful result The player of the week: Okan Yılmaz of Bursaspor, bringing back top scorer race
